Yes, the first part at least. I think it's gonna be a 2 episodes pilot.

I thought it was pretty good, the casting is great and I liked that it reminded me a lot of one of the early seasons of Smallville.

Has anyone of you watched Gotham?

I've been watching it. What do you think of it Jette? And yes Ray, you should watch it!

I'm not sure, really. I love the scenes with Bruce and Alfred because I've always been a huge Alfred fan and to see him take over the parenting role for little Bruce is very interesting. But unfortunately the show does not focus on the two of them, which makes sense given the fact that they don't want to be a family drama.
Gordon on the other hand is a character that i've never been interested in. I thought that might change because Gotham is focusing on a much younger version of him but the show's version is not just younger but also too naive and too stiff which makes him even more boring than the comic book version, imo.
I'll have to watch a few more episodes to figure out if it's a show that i want to stick with.

Hmm I like Jim Gordon and what I like about it is seeing Jim struggle to hold onto his sense of morality when he's one of the few good cops in a police department full of corruption. I also like seeing the origins of the villains like The Penguin and the Riddler and I'm enjoying Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney. Of course I also like the Alfred and Bruce dynamic and seeing Alfred's struggles with raising Bruce and the anvils of foreshadowing in the show that remind me so much of SV .

It's good that he's a good guy and that he's trying to make the city a better place but it also kind of makes him a very one dimensional character. I just keep wondering if he really had shot Penguin (or well... if story wise it had to be some other character that they actually could have killed off) Jim's story would have gotten more interesting because then they could have added some level of self-doubt and blame and I think some sort of edge like that would do wonders for his character.

Yes, that's one thing they've done very well so far. I'm quite intrigued by Penguin's story. He's so twisted.

I wish they'd actually do foreshadowing scenes in a way that other shows do flashbacks. You know what I mean? That would give them the chance to add some real Batman action to the show and give the whole thing more complexity.

I see what you mean about the flashback thing but that's either not the story the wanted to tell or it's not the story they were allowed to tell. I disagree about Jim b/c if Jim had shot him that would have been completely missing the point IMO. He's supposed to be one of the only good cops in a city full of corrupt cops. If he killed someone (not in self-defense) then he'd be just like every other cop in the city. And I think he has enough self-doubt and blame anyways with the whole Mario Pepper thing.

I see what you mean but let's take Reign's Mary as a counterexample. She's trying to make things better. She doesn't want to rule like Catherine. She's against those schemes and killing innocent people just to get what she wants. Her character is kind of built up like Jim, only in a different setting. But she's by far not as one dimensional. She's struggling more, she made mistakes, she even caused the death of people which makes her a 'gray' character and IMO that's why she's so interesting. Jim (at least at the moment) is too much of a 'white' character.

I get your point, but I think there are different rules at play for superhero shows. I think the audience intended for Gotham are probably very familiar with Jim Gordon's character and I've noticed in most superhero shows/movies etc that most of the 'good guys' have very strict 'do not kill' rules and that what people expect of them. I mean, did you see the outrage people had in Man of Steel when Superman killed Zod? I don't think most fans of the show would be able to accept Jim killing someone...especially so soon in the series. Mary didn't immediately start making questionable choices from the very first episode. If they'd done that with Jim I think it would have been too much too soon.

...and I have added you here as well, baelfire24. Welcome!

Btw, we have an introduction thread, so if you wanna share some info about you and why you love Smallville then you can post there. But you obviously don't have to.

Do you have a favorite member of the JLA?

I'm still catching up with The Flash. I watched episode 3 today. Maybe by the end of the coming weekend I'll be all caught up with my shows including Gotham.

Is it still good? Are you still enjoying it?
