Those two in particular meant the most to him.

Oh man, that was a knife in the heart to Chloe.

Funny how that scene was in season 4, and yet they still dragged the Clark/Lana thing out for three more seasons.

Clark & Lana will go on until Mid-Season Eight.

Technically, season 8 was a guest appearance, and from what I heard, fans couldn't believe that Lana was still hanging around in season 8 and wanted her gone.

^ I don't think that was the case. I believe Kristin missed five episodes in Season Seven due to The Writer's Strike, and she had to make up those five in Season Eight to wrap up her contract.

Ah ha! See, I knew it was contractual stuff that kept dragging this thing out.

Why Kristen was even contracted to that many seasons makes no sense when the creators said they only had a five year plan. If you only plan on five seasons, why sign her for seven? And again, this is why I know that the only reason that Clark/Chloe didn't happen and that Clark/Lois got pushed back so far is because the network wanted Kristen to be the female lead and didn't want Clark being involved with anyone else while she was under contract. Ironically, Lana could be involved with anyone she wanted.

That's probably why they linked Lana to Lex.

I actually had no problem with that storyline. I liked Lana's tragic fall and her descent into darkness. But Clark didn't have to be a part of that storyline, nor did he have to compromise himself constantly holding on to her, especially when Lois was around.

And again, if Clark/Lois weren't yet ready, you have Chloe there. It wasn't necessary to just have Clark obsess about Lana until Kristen left the show, because you don't base your storylines around the length of the actors contracts. Other shows have had characters move on in different directions while still remaining friends. It wasn't necessary to make Clark addicted to Lana.

More good Clark/Lois/Chloe stuff in Prototype and Phantom. Too bad Clark still obsesses about Lana instead of paying attention to his girls.

Clark worked really hard to get the information he needed out of Lana in these episodes.
