Yeah for the effect I guess. This book (and movie) was such a Snape story for me.

And I felt that because HBP is literally Snape. I did like the air of mystery (at first) of not knowing who owns the book that Harry was using in class and then later finding out it belongs to Snape.

one of my torturous super power abilities is that I have an experience memory that goes back to well...forever.... I remember when someone in the hobby shop I helped out in spoiled it for me... hoping he was kidding..I read the book a week later...he wasn't kidding.... but Dumbledore did it for the greater good... and he was going to die anyway, right??
