There's a links list just below the banner which is pretty resourceful.

Glad you found it then, forever dreaming! I have been neglecting it a lot because it's not really my thing anymore to make threads - I have other interests now.
How is the Henry James? He's said to be an iconic writer, I've never read anything. __________________

Hi everybody! I'm so happy, because I found this theard, I think it's gorgeous.
I didn't like reading long time ago, but I realized that it's very-very good. My favourites are those books which are written by American or Brittish women. I have ended the Gone with the Wind (by Margaret Mitchell) 3 weeks ago, and I guess that's a very good book. I remember that Lorelai and Rory talk about it in the 3rd season but they don't say the book's title. I read the Jane Eyre (by Charlotte Bronte) in winter, but I didn't like it. I think it's a little bit boring, there's no exciting and it was too halting. What do you offer to me? I'd love to read more and more, but some books aren't good and boring and I put it down easily....so I prefer the exciting books with a little mush. Last edited by Jilda; 07-14-2008 at 06:09 AM |

Aw, I love to see that there's a thread for this! Rory always inspired me to read more.
It's too bad to see that this thread has died about 5 years ago though. __________________

I don't read very often. I should make an effort to read more though.

I used to be such a big reader, which is probably why I identified with Rory so much. I've kind of lost my stride in the last couple years though, and grown out of the genre I used to devour but still don't like the "older" genres so it's hard to find books! I did read The Book Thief last year and it was absolutely fantastic. Hoping to reread it this summer and thinking about giving The Boy in the Striped Pajamas a go too (what is it with Holocaust stories?). Hoping to get back into reading this summer!

I usually read about 4 books at a time...I have a hard time focusing on one. I'm literally a chapter & a half from finishing the 4th Castle book Frozen Heat, Emily Giffin's Love the One You're With, Vanina Marsot's Foreign Tongue & Bill Bryson's Tales from a Small Island. Reading has always been a huge passion of mine but lately my computer dedication has taken over.
And now having seen The Great Gatsby in theaters, it makes me want to pick up that book & see if I can appreciate it more now that I'm supposedly older & wiser. I respect Fitzgerald's prose and some of his phrases are breathtaking to read, it's just the actual tale I couldn't really attach myself to. It was too dreary & tragic for my taste w/ severely flawed characters. __________________

I always liked the Great Gatsby. I read once in college and once in HS. Ironically as I said in the book thread I liked my HS teacher's intereptation of the book unlike my college who kept hating every character, where as HS recognized most of them as flawed. I just love Fitz's passages
I did read Life of Pi before the moving glad I did because I knew to fast forward the animal attack scene so it would not give me nightmares |
