I don't think Chris ever expected Lorelai to break up with Luke on the spot; he just wanted Lorelai to know his hat was back in the ring. And, judging by the way Lorelai acted around him up until the vow renewal, I don't think he was wrong to believe he still had a chance. |

Welcome. Nro congratulation on getting another review. I agree it was Lorelai's keeping things and Luke insecurity that caused them to break up not Chris.

I think people just like to have Chris as a scapegoat because their L/L was clearly not all that great at being together. If they were that in love & secure, not even Chris could have shaken them. I think Lorelai was upset at the L/L break up in S5 because she and Luke were in their honeymoon period. In S6 in the end she and Luke were exhausted and she was ready to move on that's why she was happy with Luke in S7.
