you've never heard of macarons before? they are a famous French type of pastry cookie, typically with cream fillings between light & crunchy cookie shells made of almond flour & egg whites, they're really yummy you should try them!

I admit I had seen them before but never heard the name. I always thought they were american though, bc I usually only see them in pics posted by americans and I've never seen them in france.

I wish it was an American thing but it is not. I think we post them a lot just because we don’t get to have them as often.

they're everywhere in France, most French pastry shops worldwide would have them, it's one of the most iconic French sweets

but some people often confuse macarons with macaroons because of their very similar spelling, but they're 2 very different types of sweets, macaroons on the other hand are cookies made of coconut, macarons are French, while macaroons came from Italy.

I saw a post of a new york pastry shop that had them in many different tastes, so I thought it must be americans. And i never saw them in pastry shops in paris or nica where I've been.

^yum macarons are some of my fav sweets, I always buy them whenever I'm in Paris and Lyon and every pastry shop I go to that has them

but it's no surprise that macarons have become so popular worldwide, you can find them basically everywhere nowadays

that's weird I see them just about everywhere, most pastry shops in France has them, and alot of pastry shops worldwide has them too, I travel alot and I find them in alot of pastry shops in the US, UK, Australia, Japan etc too.
