I think I saw the Emma Roberts one when I was a kid? Maybe? They haven't had a lot of success with movies.

I don't know if I ever saw the Emma Roberts one...but I know there was another one that came out right before the show did starring that one girl from the IT movies.

the concept of nancy drew as a teen detective is a great one. They just need to write her as fleshed out and not do with the showrunners did.

Oh yeah I cannot remember her name for the life of me but the girl who played Bev did one too!

I think they did a great job aging Nancy up (or well, making her the age she is in the books, which is older than she typically is in movies) and bringing in supernatural stuff was smart. It just went off the rails.

I'm glad they didn't put her in HS...but I just wish they would have treated her like a normal 18-19 year old instead of a middle-aged woman.

The films are. Nancy Drew (2007) & Nancy Drew and The Hidden Staircase (2019) Sophia Lillis is her name. The girl from IT. The 2019 film definitely wanted a sequel. Nancy Drew needs balance. On this show they're obsessed with Nancy Drew having sex because she never has sex. And every other version has been against her ever having sex because she's a "Good Girl" or the version is too young. I think she should be 18+ in a future film and it shouldn't be too Disney channel.

Yeah she seems older than a high schooler for sure. Mid-late 20s would have been a good age for her.

Middle aged Nancy is suddenly something I want to see I can see it now, she gets a divorce, has a midlife crisis, the kids start leaving the nest and then she goes back to mystery solving as a hobby (only half joking that's probably how they'd write it )

They should have made her like 21 or 22 and she was almost ready to graduate...but she left school because of her mom's health crisis.

Or that could have just been a backstory and she could have been like mid-20s when we first met her.
