Yeah, if we're trying to normalize queerness, it's not effective to blast it everywhere.

And I do get that queer is still the minority like people of color in roles, representation, but if we make it such a big deal, it further emphasizes the 'divide' and it's like saying we're extraordinary or something, if that makes sense. It's even annoying to some people in the queer community. Yeah, I am happy to see more repreentation, of sexual orientation or race, always. Agree with Chelle that it doesn't need to be used to promote a show.

With you on that too, Chelle. I rather watch someone who isn't gay play a character who is gay. It shows range in acting and especially if they are able to pull it off so well.

They shouldn't feel shameful or like they are 'stealing' a role from a potential gay actor/actress.

I'm happy to see it represented. I wish I had it more growing up so I wouldn't have felt more like a freak (although still they fail with bisexuality). But I don't need the sexuality used to promote a character. Although it did annoy me more in NCIS New Orleans & the new Charmed. They had no need to throw in their sexualities into the character descriptions. I can see the relevance here but on those shows it doesn't change anything at all.

I've seen gay actors asked what it is like to play straight & their response is pretty much that they're an actor. They're playing a part. I'd presume the same for the reverse. Its how it should be

But I also would like to say I have nothing against Ruby Rose's casting either

. I just don't think her sexuality should come into anything - especially people who've been hating on the show/character because she's gender fluid which then supposedly doesn't make her truly gay, & same about her not being Jewish. Its a character, doesn't matter what the actress is, she can still play the role
