11pm Atlantic time update!
Another day, another heatwave, another 109 degrees but thankfully the weather is said to be pleasant from tomorrow's play onwards - too late she cried? we'll just have to wait and see As for the action itself, few surprises so far in the first 4 hours of play today With Serena and David Ferrer doing the business on centre court The only minor upset so far was the unconventional Florien Mayer getting over the top of number 20 Jerzy Janowicz Eugenie Bouchard stays afloat, theres a chance she will be on centre court for the next match she plays in Until 6am GMT (a couple of hours time) but a good night to all those on the east of North America __________________

645AM GMT Update
Morning to all those in the UK and Western Europe Plenty of action afoot there in Melbourne on a hot day, however, thankfully it has drastically cooled down (90 degrees at 6pm local time), and the remainder of the tournament is looking temperate In terms of the heat, after reporting record crowds on the first day of action (on a 95 degree day) , the reporting of crowds stopped after the heatwave proved to be a deterministic factor for people going to watch the tennis in the oppressive heat For the action on court:-> Casey Dellacqua has advanced to the fourth round after beating Zheng Jie, so there will be some Australian participation for the second week of competition, the match to watch out for tonight: Sam Stosur vs Ana Ivanovic at 7pm tonight (an hour and a half from now) Other matches to watch out for tonight include: Robredo vs Gasquet and Djokovic takes on Denis Istomin And the doubles tournament is in full swing, it wont be long the juniors, the wheelchair tennis and the legends tennis provides the other entertainment for the dimishing amount of singles tennis matches on offer 930am GMT The rain has come! and Not before time either! Providing a little bit of relief to the long suffering crowd at Melbourne Park __________________

I`ve just added you to the list Lea. We're very happy to have you in the Tennis Club. Thanks for helping out with the update from the late matches at the Australian Open.
As mentioned earlier, Nole defeated Denis Istomin 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 and Tommy Robredo defeated Richie 2-6, 7-5, 6-4, 7-6(6). Tough loss for Richie. Ana defeated Samantha Stosur 6-7(8), 6-4, 6-2. Good win for Ana, who did a good job of rebounding after blowing the first set. On the other hand, it's another early exit from Sam Stosur in the Aussie Open. Also Fabio Fognini defeated Sam 7-5, 6-4, 6-4. Tough loss for Sam, who damages Team USA's remote chances on the men`s side. So that's the story from the late matches in Melbourne. Coming up on Day 6 later tonight, Maria will take on Alize Cornet in the first match of the day at Rod Laver Arena followed by Fed and Caroline, while Aga Radwanska, Sloane Stephens and Jelena Jankovic. Plus we`ll have some pretty intriguing looking matches. First of all, Jo-Wilfried will face Gilles Simon in a matchup between two of the French Connection's top stars. Also Andy Murray will play Feli, Milos Raonic will take on Grigor Dimitrov and Donald Young will face Kei Nishikori. Plus Vika will play Yvonne Meusburger and Rafa will take on Gael in the evening session at Rod Laver Arena. __________________

11.30pm Atlantic Time Update
Im not expecting a lot of people to be here at this time of the night But day 6 is underway, a couple of my friends are actually there in Melbourne to watch the tennis But the action so far: Straight sets victories to Federer and Sharapova Sharapova was in the wars again in the second set, after seamlessly dispatching of Cornet in the first set and a half, her form has been scratchy in this tournament, she would need to lift her game if she was going to challenge Serena for the title In other matches, easy wins to Radwanska and Sloane Stephens However Dominik Cibulkova has gotten on top of Carla Suarez Navarro to make it through to round 4 in a mini upset against the seedings and rankings On court right now is Caroline against Catalan Muguruza, Raonic and Dimitrov slugging it out in a very evenly matched game of tennis between two rising stars. and Benoit Paire- the conqueror of young Nick Kyrgios, having nothing in the tank for his third round match against Bautista Agut - the conqueror of Del Potro in the second round __________________

645GMT Update
Its unlikely anybody will be awake at this time of the day from your Friday nights, but just to let those know when youre logging on just to check -> Caroline has just gone down to Muguraza, and Dimitrov has outplayed Milos Raonic (and his atomic speed serve) to get into round 4 of the tournament, the fourth set tiebreak could have gone either way, going from set point to match point before Dimitrov advanced As we speak, Murray leads 2 sets to 0, and we now wait for tonight's night session featuring Azarenka and Meusberger, and Nadal taking on Monfils, and Giles Simon takes on Tsonga on the outside court Experts doubt Monfils, a player capable of doing the impossible on his day, will pull off an upset, but expect plenty of exciting tennis if Monfils does get going EDIT - and add me to ze list __________________

I`ve just added you to the list Cook. We`re very happy to have you join the Tennis Club.
Here's an update from the late matches at the Australian Open. First of all, Rafa routed Gael 6-1, 6-2, 6-3. Rafa delivered an excellent performance earlier this morning. A little eye candy for the ladies. In an All French matchup, Jo-Wilfried defeated Gilles Simon 7-6(5), 6-4, 6-2. Nice to see Jo-Wilfried and Gilles have a good competitive match. Good win for Jo-Wilfried. Also Vika crushed Yvonne Meusburger 6-1, 6-0; Andy Murray defeated Feli 7-6(2), 6-4, 6-2 and Kei Nishikori defeated Donald Young 7-5, 6-1, 6-0. Very good performance from Vika. Disappointing result for Donald, which ends Team USA's remote hopes on the men`s side in singles. So that's the story from the late matches in Melbourne. Coming up later tonight on Day 7 will be the start of the Round of 16. First of all, Serena Williams will take on Ana and then Nole will face Fabio Fognini in the afternoon session at Rod Laver Arena. Also Na Li will play Ekaterina Makarova and then David Ferrer will take on Florian Mayer at Hisense Arena. Plus Eugenie Bouchard will play hometown favorite Casey Dellacqua and then Stan will take on Tommy Robredo in the evening session at Rod Laver Arena. __________________

This has been a depressing tournament thus far. At least Eugenie is still in it.

6am GMT update
Its no secret that Serena has been toppled by Ana Ivanovic Flavia Pennetta got through to the quarter finals at the expense of Angelique Kerber The match to look forward to tonight is Dellacqua, the last Australian in the singles draw takes on Eugenie Bouchard to play Ana in the Quarters, right now with Serena not making it through to the business end of the tournament its shaping up to be a Sharapova v Azarenka women's singles final On the lighter side of the entertainment, the two Martinas, Hingis and Navratilova look to entertain those with a ground pass on the outside courts in the women's legends doubles-> Other Legends doubles matches include Pat Cash, Henri Leconte, Goran Ivanisevic, Mats Wilander and also the trickster Mansour Bahrami Thats all there is for now, im sure Hot Rod will fill everyone in on the remaining results for the rest of the day's play __________________

Thanks for the update.
As mentioned earlier, Ana pulled off the upset of the tournament to date by defeating Serena Williams 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. What a great win for Ana. She did a good job of stepping up her play in the last two sets and really had her forehand working. Serena was outplayed in the last two sets and didn't play with her usual intensity. Also Nole routed Fabio Fognini 6-3, 6-0, 6-2; David Ferrer defeated Florian Mayer 6-7(5), 7-5, 6-2, 6-1; Na Li routed Ekaterina Makarova 6-2, 6-0; Tomas Berdych defeated Kevin Anderson 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 and Eugenie Bouchard defeated hometown favorite Casey Dellacqua 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-0. Good win for Genie, who did a good job of rallying from losing the first set. Finally in the last match of the day in progress, Stan is leading Tommy Robredo 6-3, 7-6(3), 1-0. So that's the story from most of the matches in Melbourne. __________________

Are you watching any matches today? I'll try to catch the Nadal/Nishikori & Murray/Robert matches. Hope Nishikori will give Nadal a battle.
