I heard a year or so ago that he left Renault originally because Carlos Ghosn was making noise about his power at Renault, and said that he could shut down the Formula 1 team any time he wanted, causing Alonso to jump ship rather than potentially be left without a ride.

hmmm, i haven't heard that news. all i know is that Mclaren has been eyeing Alonso for quite some time in Renault and offered him a really good deal if he joined them.

Alonso said, that one of the reasons, why he signed a deal with McLaren at the end of 2005, was because future of Renault in F1 wasn't sure at that time. Sadly that's true - Ghosn isn't the biggest F1 fan.

you can't blame Alonso for trying out another team. i mean, i bet the offer was good. but really, it was a wrong move. he should have stayed with Renault.

not yet. i haven't had time to check some F1 sites. but there's always time for me to check this weekend.

I wasn't busy this week, so I followed all testing and launches and everything connected with F1, because I just need some F1. It's like addition. I can't wait till March...

I didn't know Renault had launched their new car yet (I suppose everybody has though). I'll have to check that out.

I read that Ralf may race in the DTM for Mercedes this year. He's tested for them already. It seems to be where a lot of former F1 drivers land: Mika Hakkinnen (by choice, unlike most others), Heintz-Harald Frentzen, Berndt Schneider, Jean Alesi and a bunch of others I can't remember because it's 4:30 AM.

The launch is on 31st January, but the car was already unveiled and tested in Valencia last week. Maybe the horrible livery will be changed and the new one will be presented... *is really hopeful*

well i haven't heard much about Ralf. i haven't checked online yet for anything new with F1. but i can't wait for Melbourne already! and then Singapore on September!

Yep, 12 Hours of Sebring on Saturday the 15th, Melbourne Grand Prix on Sunday the 16th. It'll be a weekend of auto racing sensory overload!

Maybe the horrible livery will be changed and the new one will be presented... *is really hopeful*

Yeah, I thought their old livery was way better. I know that sponsorship determines the look of the car somewhat, but some teams manage to come up with attractive designs regardless, so hopefully Renault can take a pointer....

hmmm...could be. besides its a night race, so maybe it is a street circuit. we'll know soon!

i like the new board colors but the graphics are so-so.
