Since today is national coming out day...

Most if not all of you may have probably kind of guessed it, but I'm bi. I've known this for a few years now, and most of my friends know and many of my family members know. I'm still not out to some people, but it's people I don't really trust with the information. I'm slowly working on being completely out. I was kind of thinking of doing so today, at least on Facebook, but I need to tell a few other key people (or make sure they know) before I do that. It's a process.

yay you did it Amelia, well at least in here and i admire everyone who came out. because i am bi too but only my closest friends know. and i assume you guys guessed/know as well i haven't told my parents or family and i am not ready to tell them. my sister (my most favorite person in my life) knows as well. but i didn't have a huge coming out in front of everyone. today would have been the perfect day though. but i am not sure with my parents/family. they would understand it for sure and they'd love me, no doubt about that. but they have no clue i guess. well anyway, i am happy like i am

It surely requires a lot of strength so congrats to both of you for just being and accepting who you are. Coming out in whatever form is surely a scary feeling and one day I hope it's not scary at all because it is just seen as normal in the society as it should be.

when i was in the UK for several times by now i had the feeling people were much more open about their sexuality than in my home country. and i saw a lot more gay couples on street than here in germany. i really liked that when i was in the UK. my sister who did a year abroad in the UK also told me the most popular guys on her university is a gay couple who always post cute pics on instagram and got tons of likes.

Certain parts (not all) of U.K. is very open and accepting. Obviously there are more conservative parts, just like anywhere. I agree, Markus. I hope that one day it won't be as big of a deal because it will be more widely accepted.

Tina, I totally get that as far as not telling certain people even if they might know. Sometimes you know that they'd be okay with it, but it's still difficult to actually say it. I was that way with my dad. Knew he'd be accepting of it, but didn't know how to tell him. Told him over phone and he said he'd kind of already known anyway.

thing is, i am sure my dad also knows. not sure about my mum though. but when i come out in front of them one day, i also hope to get the same reaction like you did with your dad

Tina, Amelia good on both of you. I can only begin to imagine how hard it must be to come out, but this is your first steps. I'm glad you both can trust us all here to admit this. Both of you are amazing, lovely people. To repeat Markus, congrats on accepting who you are and allowing yourself to be you.
