I'm probably a day late & a dollar short to the party right now, but if they're going to keep Westallen on ice till the 5th season or the last season, why introduce her in season 1, & have ppl hang on for years? Even if their target demographic is young ppl under the age of 25, wouldn't they be sick & tired of waiting (those who love WA) for the 2 to get together? That doesn't make ANY kind of sense WHATsoever!

And like someone said, if the premiere & finales are indicative of what the future holds for WA, then this ship is as good as dead. Not too thrilled about that, b/c WA is the main reason I'm even watching this show!! Thankfully my expectations are beyond low, so if anything positive happens, it will be gratifying.

I can't see them waiting that long. Especially not with Geoff Johns.
What made Barry/Iris unique in the comics was that there was no will they won't they.
Once they both had feelings..they went for it..and never left

I just keep going over in my head how long would it actually take... I mean considering what we're getting now in 2A, I'm hoping we'll hit a major turning point come mid to late 2B. lol I have yet to hear Iris' epic declaration of love for Barry. We just need more Iris POV. I need receipts!!! lol

i really agree with you, im thinking when her brother some time gets introduced that maybe iris's storyline will begin there and we will see more of her? i dont know.

i do also wonder when iris and him will be together if they are?

cause i could imagine maybe some WA fans maybe are tired of waiting, if its not happening in Season 4 or 5 if it gets renewed just a thought

I don't mind waiting for Barry/Iris to get together. What I do mind is not seeing any hints that they even have this close, unbreakable bond we keep being told about - let alone that Iris is romantically attracted to him the way he was to her.

If it keeps up like this, and the writers throw them together (in whatever season), it's going to seem like it came out of the blue. I want/need to see it building up throughout the seasons, not just "Oh her feelings were hinted at in episode 15 of Season 1..." in which the revelation of her feelings was erased from the timeline, and we've seen nothing hinting towards those feelings since.

Do you guys think that when Iris finally shows an unquestionable attraction towards Barry it will be when he is with someone else therefore creating yet another road block, further angst and yet another reason to drag out the inevitable??? (and i don't necessarily mean Patty) could be down the road and Barry could be with someone else?? i don't know.. I feel like there will be a distinct moment for Iris…

I don't want Iris to show her feelings when Barry's dating anyone. That'll be an unfortunate trend.

i get what you mean, i do hope that it will build up aswell and not just come all of the sudden that would be to weird

and i dont hope she shows her feelings while he's in a relationship, but i doubt she will do that

I don't really have a problem with that cause to me the show made it clear that she liked him before Eddie showed up because he was too slow. It's only natural for her to be bothered by the idea of Barry with someone else. I think for me its just indicative that her feelings were always there. The thing with Iris in my opinion, is that she did love Eddie and didn't want to be the girl who just dumped the guy cause Barry admitted his feelings.

there's nothing wrong with doing this if you're in love with someone else. you're not being fair to the person you're with.

i always thought that was written so clumsily, because it seemed to me they were coming at it from completely the wrong angle. they seemed to think it was admirable for her to stay with Eddie out of "loyalty" while suppressing her own feelings.

that's NOT admirable though. what it is is unfair. to herself and Eddie. that's not a reason to stay with someone and it doesn't make her courageous- if anything it makes her fearful and weak. I remember feeling so frustrated by some of that stuff, because i kept thinking, wow, they are TOTALLY wrong in the way they're writing this.

we already knew Iris loved Barry because she admitted it in 1x15- and yet we're supposed to support her decision to stay with a guy out of fear of her feelings? that's the kind of wishy-washiness that tends to ruin female characters. it was really awful and completely misguided writing and reasoning. it makes me want to storm into the writer's room and be like "Nope! You guys are doing this wrong- if you insist on delaying this it's going to have to be for a better reason- one that doesn't make her a coward and an indecisive female!"

i swear, we all could write this better sometimes. they should leave the relationship stuff to someone else and just do the action/comic book stuff.
