Well, even the last E&P TV Guide Photo Shoot was captioned "How long can MerDer's marriage last?" I can only imagine what the promos will be like this year...

I can see them living apart but still talking to each other and having moments in every episode. I can also see if Patrick does want more time off to race him having all his scenes with Ellen. I mean...it would be perfect for him. If he only has to film with Ellen, then it would be easier to arrange his filming schedule... of course he could occasionally have scenes with others too.

I mean, unless they have him realize he needs her right away...but then there's no angst and yeah, sort of defeats the purpose of Patrick wanting a more flexible schedule. I'm almost certain he asked for more time off to race, just based on his interviews and all. So this storyline will be a way to give him the best of both worlds.

It'd be neat to see Meredith surprise Derek in D.C. at some point for a visit.

Well if Patrick does get into the FIA WEC then he will need an even more flexible schedule, but if he remains in TUDOR Champ, the way is now, is good enough...

Now I still dont know how will they live across the country, Derek didnt looked happy about the back and forth, and I dont think he'll bear to be a bad father acting like it....but certainly, if he stays, then there's no drama and all the set up wasnt worth it! LOL I want drama!!!!

Technically, if Derek's scenes were all via skype like the opening scene in 10x23, Patrick wouldn't even physically need to come to set.

Ughh hopefully we won't get little Derek, I need this storyline to be focused, angsty and quality, and for that we need both of them.

I can only imagine the promos and well hopefully promotion/articles for attention

Honestly racing doesnt always get in the way of how much Derek we get, writers are the ones deciding to gives us little of him. Racing season end in early october so that's 2 and half months worth of filming, mean at least 6/7 episodes if shooting get between 7/10 days. From Jan to April there are only 2/3 races, so 3 weekends out of 14...and remember in S3 episode 10? Dont stand so Close to me. He didnt race that much back then and still, episode had more of Bailey talking about tampoons than Derek dealing with Burke or even MerDer whom have exactly ONE scene of 5 seconds. :rolliingeyes: So I dont really blame the racing but the writers and their weird sense of priority...*end of rant*

Except if his new contract specifies that he wants more time off for his racing, then it's definitely his racing. We'll see how much there is of him. He's been very clear and it's no secret he'd rather race.

Every character has episodes where they're underused. That's a whole different issue.

I think skyping scenes is a good compromise - I could live with that if it means more Derek in the epis.
