Actually, France did have a Master of the Horse title in the past on various occasions. I think the real problem is that it didn't come with lands of any sort which would generate income and prestige. At least in the UK, you can collect a number of titles. You don't necessarily drop any. You're just addressed by the highest title you have.

I agree. It's not that I am not happy to see them standing next to one another for a ceremony, but that shouldn't be the only thing we see in an episode!
