It is sweet! But, I'm glad it was excluded, because it clearly corresponded to the Nosty/Catherine scene that was also deleted.

Exactly. She has always been shown as loving her sons above all else. I knew that power was important to her as well, but I'd prefer not to see it so plainly.

Every awful thing she's done has been for love of her children. To undermine that, even a little bit, makes her more of an actual villain. I'm relieved they cut that scene, and if the topic is ever brought up again, I hope it's handled differently.

True. It's just not the Catherine we saw in season 1... During the whole first season she was Mother after all other things even when it comes to her life she will put her children first. Like we saw it when Clarissa disappeared with Charles and little Henry and Catherine stayed even if she had the opportunity to leave to Italy and live save there..

I was just discussing this on the MCF thread and someone pointed out that Catherine still thinks that Francis is going to live a long life and have children with Mary, so maybe she wasn't worried and was just using that moment to get her way.

After all, when she gets sick and thinks she is dying she changes her tune and gives Mary some very positive love advice. Clearly, she doesn't believe Francis is dead.
