Well it was assumed that by the series finale [if it was lucky to get 7 seasons] it would be the Witnesses vs the Four Horsemen... there is a reason during season 1, people were waiting for them to come together. During Season 2, Abraham and Henry, Horsemen of War and Death were together and then everything went downhill.

We for sure definitely knew it'd be Abbie and Crane together for a 7-year period.

Of course Moloch was the ultimate big bad as well.

I can attest from personal experience that "crap happens" and "things change", and what may have been originally intended to happen may not in fact end up happening for one reason or another.

As I pointed out earlier, Abbie and Ichabod being identified as being the two Witnesses was never an actual guarantee that they would survive the eventual end of the series, especially if you consider the events of the Season 3 finale as relating to the apocryphal verse quoted in "The Indispensable Man", which, as I noted before, I have a sneaking suspicion might be the case, even with a change in showrunners from Season 1 to Season 3.

Also, as somebody who can't stand John Noble's Horseman of War, I'm actually looking forward to getting away from the character.

I would like to see the series bring in another over-arching "Big Bad", but it doesn't need to be (nor do I think it ought to be) Moloch.

Probably after keeping getting disappointed each season, some people just say enough if enough.

Abbie leaving just added on to the already disappointments.

Where did I say I had no issues with Abbie not being around anymore? Change is one thing, total chaos is another. EternalFate is correct.

Since this is the Crane/Abbie thread, people should be upset if one half is leaving.

Like with Castle. Fans were outraged about Stana Katic not being asked back for the next season.

Because it doesn't make absolutely no sense. Castle and Beckett are the main two characters, and has the love story... and you know what happened? Castle did not get renewed for next season and the series finale recently aired.

For people, Abbie and Crane are like Mulder & Scully, Booth and Bones, Castle and Beckett. It just doesn't work without the duo.

Not all shows are like that but for many of the viewers, Crane and Abbie are.

The bolded is very much a matter of perception, and one that the showrunners (either those who originally created and worked on the show or their replacements) had zero obligation to stick with or even write to.

There is absolutely nothing inherent to Sleepy Hollow itself as a series mandating that the series cannot exist without one of the two initially identified Witnesses.

Well people like me came into the show and ended up loving it for the Witnesses Crane and Abbie and the Headless Horseman and without 2/3, my interest has rightfully gone downhill, and really understandably so.

People don't need to watch a show if they don't have interest in watching it anymore.

I loved the for the show for the characters and the relationship between Crane & Abbie. Just because people want to give up on the show, you can't blame them for not wanting to. Especially if they are justify in doing so.
