I didn't care for Beautiful.

Ilaria, the CPMO video is GREAT! I think she learned some things about "showmanship" on Smash, if nothing else.

I loved the dance and the fact that finally the ensemble trio had decided to help Karen instead of bitching and try to get her fired just because they were Ivy's friends. But I don't like the song in general.
Beautiful is not an audition song, I doubt anyone would bring it for a Broadway role but I think in the show it was related to the character itself, I think. SOTR is a song people use to sing at auditions, but maybe for Smash they didn't want to record it fully (we had only few seconds)


"My name's Marilyn" I loved it I think Smash made her more confident on stage. Even if she did it "as Karen" she had to play Marilyn, anyway Broadwayworld publiched an article written by a fan (the author of those videos) about her concerts, this is what it's said about CPMO:

Oh NBC will make another live musical, Peter Pan. Do you think she could star in it? I don't remember all the characters, but maybe some of the adults...I can't see her as Wendy.
NBC will also produce ten episodes of a new show based on Oz, called "Emerald City", next year. It's not a musical, but I'd love to see her as Dorothy

Thanks for the write-up about her Clearwater appearance, Ilaria!

Kat would be good appearing as Mrs. Darling in Peter Pan though I don't recall that Mrs. D. sang. She may have - I haven't seen that production with Mary Martin since I was a kid.

I could easily see Kat doing musicals like "Brigadoon" or "Showboat" .. oh, any number of classic Broadway musicals.

You're welcome she said these in FL were the last concerts before the album. But it doesn't have a release date, yet, so who knows? Maybe she'll do some more. The setlist is always the same, but it's always lovely to hear all those Smash songs!


But Mrs darling is on her 30s, Katharine is (and looks) younger. Maybe with some make up (Ramin Karimloo will play again Valjean in the new Broadway production of Les Mis, and he's not so old ). I think that character sings, because this website says she must be a soprano.

Oh, classic ones! Some revival, then What do you think of Sophia (Mamma Mia!)? Although she should play a 18 years old Mary Magdalene would be nice, too.

Or an original, new musical, like Krysta's First Date.

I think Kat could basically play any age between 18 and 36.

Songs can be adapted for a voice, just as age is negotiable. Nothing has to be written in stone because a different director will have his own vision of the production he wants to make.

I never heard of Krysta's First Date.

The point with age is the scenic age, how old you look on stage. In Smash Kat played a Marilyn on her 30s, but Marilyn is a particular character

Really? I posted stuff for months in her thread, if only you took a look It's an original musical comedy about first dates, with Krysta and Zachary Levy. It closed on Broadway early this month, after less than 100 shows. There's some promotional stuff on YT, a lot of pictures and also the OCR is available.
