The rating really aren't good for a premiere I hope it gets better and now we have another week hiatus I don't know if it will get better since of that fact.

Yeah, it seems they weren't that good, it was the series low. Maybe the absence of The Voice didn't help
Let's hope that 2x03 will do better, maybe the 5th wasn't a good night __________________

Looking at what it was up against I don't think it was a good night (not that I know what times each show was on )

Tuesday nights are usually not that big in ratings idk maybe people just didn't care to watch because it's been a while since season 1?!

Probably it was bad scheduling by NBC making it a two hour event starting at 9pm. Some fans watched the first hour online and didn´t know there was a second hour.
They had to compete with NCIS plus ABC sheduled at the last minute a new episode of The Bachelor at the same time which they never do. Hopefully when the show settles Tuesdays at the 10pm slot it will pick up and stabilize. PROMOTE TO WATCH THE SHOW LIVE TUESDAY FEB 19th AT 10PM and spread the word.. I am already working on it, reminding friends and relatives to watch. Also posting online. Some totally forgot! I think some fans watch this show online and tape it to watch it later but we need to motivate them to watch it LIVE. So let´s do the work this week so when it comes back on Feb 19th the ratings pick up a bit and build. This season looks to be good! So hopefully it will get better after it settles. By March, The Voice will be back on both Mondays and Tuesdays and that could help even more. So crossing fingers! |

I don't want really to read comments of people, on various websites, but honestly I don't understand those who ALREADY say that Smash is doomed and that NBC will cancel it, probably without even broadcast all the episodes

I guess we'll see for the next episode we can reblog and repost stuff on twitter and tumblr promoting the episode.

I love season 2, I am a new fan. I watched season 1 but didn't much care for it but I have to say that season 2 is looking pretty good, I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes. I think it would have been better if they had the premiere on 2/19 rather than 2/5 just because of the presidents speech and all. I think it was just bad timing and having the first hour on the internet, I don't think a lot of people realized there was another episode. I wouldn't give up on this show, I am not. They have invested way too much into this show for it to not succeed, I think it will. I will probably start watching it live rather than DVR, NBC has never had great success with most shows except for Law & Order franchise and I really believe that this is one show that they will stick with. Personally I think 4.47 million viewers is pretty good for a show but I don't know how all that figures. I will say that this show is 100x better than glee and I am a huge musical theatre buff and this show rocks.

The key thing here is to have fans make a priority to watch it LIVE. I believe with some time, Smash will keep building and get back up on the right foot. Smash has a pretty hard core loyal fanbase so I am hoping they wont let the show down. This season looks great. I have faith in the show. |

The season looks amazing just from these 2 episodes but also the preview for the coming season. I have no doubts this show will do well, I will be watching it live from now on. If the president of NBC loves this show and has faith in the show, it will last.

And premieres get put on the Internet all the time. I don't know of any show whose ratings were depressed because of it. It's not like the ratings of those shows who premiered online went up in week 2 as online-only folks tuned in for Ep 2. If they watched, they likely watched online. Smash has no room to drop or it would likely have to pull it from the schedule otherwise they'll owe their advertisors since ad space is sold based on a promise of a certain number of viewers. NBC is in desperate shape so if the ratings for Smash manage to climb in the mid-1s range, all of the episodes will probably air. But it's not overly pessimistic or crazy to think that it's just as likely that the show will be pulled from the schedule early. __________________

I agree about season 2 it's a lot better than season 1 IMO it started off really good and I personally loved the two hour premiere.
