They did. After the first incident, he was told to pay out money and go to therapy. That's a pretty big warning.

I think the reason why people are backing him because Damon was said some things about him that aren't true at all and that's not fair to Clayne.

This is going off from what I remember, but I think there are more examples on top of these too.

1. He claimed that images of 'Clayne Clawford is an emotional terrorist' was posted all around set, yet no one who worked on set saw them and there was something located in the background the photo that showed it was taken somewhere that wasn't the WB lot.

2. He claimed that Clayne took pleasure in making the female cast and crew like an living hell, yet they were all glowing on what he was like to work with and they all admitted they would love to work with him again. Hilarie Burton posted about how much she loved working with him and with what she went through on the One Tree Hill set, there's no way she would be support Clayne if what Damon said was true.

3. Damon also claimed that Clayne deliberately injured an actor on set and yet that actor never appeared on the show in any shape or form as either an actor or director (he has actually never directed anything before either).
