That's classic Mary. You mustn't pay attention to everything she says
I'm pretty sure Tom and her have learned to respect each other by now.
Must have been quite an effort for our "conservative" Mary.

Sybil's reply was indeed very beautifull. But she was someone who never judged a person by who they where or where they came from, whitch is very special concerning the time period and the different classes that where standart then.

Yes Sybil was such a good person because she doesn't care of who people are. She judges people for what they do or say.

I miss her so much: I would love to have a lot of pictures like this:

Great scene. He could have taken the money but he didn't because he really loved her. She was everything to him.

And that's exactly how you answer a man who bribes you for money. I didn't like that Robert had to do that.

I think Robert underestameted the feelings Tom and Sybil had by thinking Tom would take the money.

Yes Robert certainly thought that Tom doesn't love Sybil but just her money (like the guy with Lady Rosamund). And Sybil was very young yet he thought it was just a tantrum of little girl.

In my opinion, Sybil was a very mature young person, even in S1.
She always knew what she wanted and she didn't stop following her dreams, even if her parents didn't want her to.
(I hate writing or talking about Sybil, using the past tense.)
This is what Tom was curious about. I never had the impression that he loved her money more than her, but in former times a marriage like this wasn't unusual.
All I know is that Tom is no little gold-digger. In fact, he never was.

Yeah, he thought that. But he didn't know how many years Tom was in love with Sybil. Or how well and long Sybil had thought about her disision to be with Tom.

Also when the war was over and Sybil was home again she knew that she couldnt go back to her old life. That that wasnt her anymore. And that she wanted to start a new life with Tom.

Yes Sybil always has been mature and after the war she knew what she wanted. To her it was impossible to come back at her earlier life and when she finally admitted her feelings to Tom it was clear that she just wanted be with him. And of course Tom never has been interested by her money: he just loves her and he has wait a long time for Sybil.

He waited a long time for Sybil indeed and she was defenitly worth the wait. Sybil was Always one of my favourite characters because of her sweet nature. She didn't care that Tom was just a chauffeur.

Yes to me too. Her "free" side is one of the thing I like the more of Sybil. I mean she loves Tom for who he is and not what he has. And what is beautiful it's the same thing to Tom: he loves her for who she is.
Despite the period and the Sybil's family they have believed in their relationship and it's why I love them so much.

She proved so much courage by neglecting what society expected of her and by marrying Tom albeit he was a chauffeur...
