Plus the opening scene of Neal receiving the postcard in season 2 premiere. It's clear that he knew of its signifigence which implies a conversation was had.

I guess we'll agree to disagree. I don't think writers really think about these details. There was one SF who said at the end of every Pinnochio story the kid learns to not tell lies so neal might have thought of that.
To me it doesn't matter cause neal trusted a stranger but I am not hear to debate

You're right, they don't think the details through. Otherwise, we'd know why Neal ran in Manhattan for example.

It also doesn't matter because according to the writers Neal was right to trust August. It never made sense to me but they made it very clear that awful things would have happened if Neal hadn't left Emma. I will agree however that they probably didn't think it through. They don't seem to do that most of the time.

Which is amazing. They did a great job writing their scenes (in season 2) and they seemed so enthusiastic about them.

They never got closure, yet somehow Emma managed to suddenly get over a man, who she's been in love with for 11 years.

They really should have tried to finish their story in season 3.
