She looked kind of confused in the promo, I'm going for speculation that she's a figment of his imagination made 'real', so he can see her, talk to her and centre himself emotionally to try and retain the control to do what he's trying to do.

He needs her, so let some part of her be real to him there. The better part of him that he needs to be reminded still exists in him.

That makes the most sense. I knwo waht Adam said about it, but I also saw waht Adam said about Emma stating to everyone that she's finding her son. So I tihnk it will be Belle's image made real by Rumpel so he could keep his focus,.
