Even with all of my problems with Elena I don't want her to get a sad ending, I don't think she deserves that, she's been through so much pain and lost so much including herself. So I wanted her to have a good hopeful happy ending.

I don't buy her always wanting a human life. She was happy with being a vampire in 4x23 and it all feels so rushed and retconned since she only showed interest in being human 2 episodes ago. The cure storyline has really annoyed me.

Yeah it's just annoying though. The fact that she gave up the cure in 4x23 and said she was happy with who she was and then proved over two years that she really was just to change her mind in 24 hours. She didn't even think much about the decision. She's back to being flaky again. As much criticism as she gets at least she was owning her decisions post 4x23.
