I really adore the Alex and Thom relationship, and I was in shock that they killed him off. I really hope there is something else going on, because he was really her rock in that horrible place.

But in a way, i feel that she also saved Thom. Didn't he said, that "you have saved me?"

he was talking about the things he said to her at the beginning of the episode, when he said to her that after one month he still had in front of his eyes the face of the first woman he killed (the russian spy). He saw her face everyday. So in the last scene he told to Alex that she will always have his face in front of her eyes
