So we're doing a rewatch on the General Discussion thread and watched Earth Skills tonight. The episode with what Jason dubbed "the catch that launched 1000 shippers." While I believe that was a significant Bellarke moment it was hardly when I began shipping them. And I'm having difficulty pinpointing just when I did begin shipping them. I think it snuck up on me. But I'm curious about when you guys started to ship them. Was there a definitive moment that just hit you, and you wanted these two together? Did it sneak up like it did for me? And even then which scene had the most influence? Was it somewhere in between? Etc. |

Thanks Rose for the new thread!!
I started to ship them since episode 1... Bellamy behaved like a selfish brat but I thought he had potential since he stood out amongst the 100, he was as charismatic as Clarke was even though their reasoning were distinctly different, but she confronted him every time he screwed up, she was fearless and their scenes were the most appealing to me since the beginning, they had that kind of chemistry between two opposite characters who definitely can balance each other out and I loved it... |

I know, this wasn't a shippy moment or anything like that. But THAT was the moment where I saw the potential between those two and where I felt the undeniable chemistry (and of course the "brave princess" moment). I wasn't a big fan of Bellamy when the show started, he was a dick and I thought I'd hate but that particular moment happened and I thought to myself " maybe he isn't that bad after all...". I know some people keep saying that Bellamy was only thinking about taking off her wrist band but I'm in the minority that thinks he had the reflex to "save" her. He didn't let her fall. He helped her. For me, that was an important moment. I went full on shipper when Clarke killed Atom and Bellamy looked at her like she was the most precious thing on Earth __________________

I was not a Bellarke fan from the start. Both Bell and Clarke annoyed me for different reasons… I think I was a little bit like you b/c I can't seem to exactly pin point the moment i started shipping them, it was more a gradual thing… I also loved Wells and really wanted something to develop between him and Clarke, till he died I saw something in Bellarke when Clarke helped Bell with Atom, it was a sweet eye opening moment but not quite shipper worthy for me yet.. I think the following episode where they worked together to help Charlotte made me see real potential, then I felt like I did ship them once they began to rely on each other and trust in each other… I guess I knew i 100% shipped them during Day Trip when I got all fan girl over their little excursion __________________

The first time I watched S1, it was during Day Trip (I think that's what it's called); the episode where they went to get supplies and got all the guns. Bellamy just gave Clarke these looks and sometimes Clarke would pause for a moment when he would do something, and I was like, "Dang, these 2 are definitely going to get together."
However, the first time I watched S1, I had a lot going on in my life with my husband's cancer and chemo and 2nd pregnancy. So, I didn't pay attention like I normally would have. I did a rewatch last fall and realized their chemistry much earlier. A little when he saved her from falling, but really with the Atom and Charlotte stuff. |

I'm still going to get back to you on that, Kenni. I definitely wasn't shipping them yet in Earth Skills. I THINK it may have started in Earth Kills, when he was looking at her slide the knife into Atom's neck (how morbid). I could be wrong though. I feel like it wasn't until episode 5 or 6 when something clicked. Once we reach those episodes in our rewatch, I'm certain I'll remember!
Because I remember sitting on the couch at home thinking "wait a minute here...this hostility driven relationship is starting to lead towards a relationship of respect and teamwork...what is this feeling I have???" Mm plus I thought they'd look hot together. __________________

Okay seriously, I get why people would ship them from that. I just like to think/joke about an 80 year old Bellamy laughingly telling their grandkids the story of how he almost killed their grandmother. But he didn't because her eyes were so purdy! |

"And then my dearies, when I REALLY fell for your Grandma Clarke was when I saw her softly slide a dagger into the side of my friend's neck! The way she was humming to him as he took his last breath really spoke to me, and her hair was real shiny"

TFTNT. The title is everything.

For me, it probably is the Atom moment. It was just something about the way she just knew that he needed help with putting Atom out of his pain and then she just took over and it was like a light switch went off in him and he started looking at her in a different way. I love how even if they really didn't know each other at that point that they already understood each other in ways they never even knew. Gag so corny I know. And the total geek out bonding moment in episode 10 just sealed it for me. It was the one moment I truly felt that they were discussing something personal ... completely unrelated to survival, war etc. __________________
