"exhilaration fizzed through Clarke’s body. Before she realised what she was doing, she had thrown her arms around Bellamy. He joined in her laughter as he staggered backward, and wrapped his arms around her waist, lifting her up and spinning her through the air. The colours of the clearing swirled, green and gold and blue all blurring until there was nothing in the world but Bellamy’s smile, lighting up his eyes. Finally he set her down gently on the ground. Be he didn’t loosen his grip. Instead he pulled her even closer, and before Clarke had time to catch her breath, his lips were on hers. A voice in her brain told her stop, but it was overpowered by the smell of his skin and the pressure of his touch. Clarke felt like she was melting into his arms, losing herself in the kiss. He tasted like joy, and joy tasted better on Earth."

Love that pic! Makes me so excited! You know Bellarke is definitely a topic they will or have already discussed by now

I saw in the last thread there was some discussion about whether or not Bellarke was planned from the beginning. .I actually think they were. I mean, think about it. All of this first season was filmed last year with no fan reactions or feedback to encourage it. And look at all the amazing scenes we've gotten! It's quite telling IMO. I don't particularly think their intentions were to go towards full blown romance this season obviously BUT they have been developing ground work for Bellarke since the pilot. That's no coincidence. This show may have started out hinting towards Finn/Clarke and then brought Raven in but think about who has shared the more memorable scenes. The scenes with most value. Off the top of my head I can think of maybe 2 scenes with Finn/Clarke that were blatantly romantic. But as for Bellarke, they've had at least one important scene in every single episode. The episode that made me definitely stop questioning the writers' intent for Bellarke was 1x08 of course. They could've had any other characters go on this Day Trip but they chose Bellarke. And of course the gun scene was an obvious "potential romance" sign. They didn't have to have Bellamy act like that. But they did which tells me they have a plan for Bellarke in the future.

And actually Eliza and Bob are really the only ones who have expressed how surprised they are over the reaction. Jason had never really said he's surprised, he just keeps throwing in there that the show is about survival first and foremost. I think if anything, they're just surprised at how quickly fans caught on to Bellarke. Not because they weren't in the cards.

Beautifully said! And I completely agree! It's NOT 'fan service.'

We're getting stuff with them NOW after they had already finished filming a while back before they got fan feedback!

If ANYONE had doubts before, I'm sure episode 8 erased them with the VERY clear romantic hint in the "shooting lesson" scene!

And Jason actually said something like this: "Obviously, these characters have AMAZING chemistry and these actors. We get it. We love that. That's partly by design and by divine intervention...because you never know."

Something like that. I can't remember his exact wording. But he did say that he knows they have amazing chemistry.

LuvinJames23 like I said in the other thread the chemistry between Bob and Eliza is what made Bellarke work. Nothing else. I don't necessarily agree when people say that Bellarke was "planned" because you can see that the actors/ some of the writers (just look at they retweet a few weeks back) weren't expecting that kind of awesome reaction towards them ( and by that I'm talking about the amount). It surprised them a bit. They weren't romantically planned. No way! I believe that the plan from the get go was to have them come from a place where they couldn't stand each other to an understanting by the end of the season. A place where they finally trust each other, respect each other, rely on each other and admire on each other. That was the plan for day 1 imo. The rest came because of the viewers reactions and the chemistry between Bob and Eliza which is lightning in a bottle and everyone can see it.

But anyway planned or not, we thank them for what they've done so far lol

I do think Jason and the others noticed the unique chemistry between Bob & Eliza early on while filming first few episodes so he wanted to emphasize that and created a bit more for them for the rest of the season. I do agree that the goal was to mostly bring them from enemies to allies/friends by season's end but 1x08 proved the writers intended a romantic undertone as well. But one that wouldn't flourish until later in the series.

Truth is, We'll never really know the specifics of the writers plans. i think both opinions could be correct to a certain extent. but I do feel confident in saying a Bellarke romance is definitely in the cards now. Whether it's next season or later, it'll happen. I'm just grateful for what the show has given us so far! It's their writing and Bob/Eliza chemistry that created this passion. So obviously they know what they're doing

I think the Bellarke dynamic was planned from the beginning but they didn't know whether it was going to be romantic in the future. I think they noticed the chemistry and decided it was an interesting dynamic but they were testing the relationship with the audience first.

Eliza and Thomas thought people were going to root for Clarke/Finn because they were THE couple this season so they were a little surprised by all the attention Bellarke got.

I think S2 is going to be great because the writers now have the reactions from the critics and the fans.

I can see both sides but, IMO, from what I've seen onscreen, the writers know exactly what they're doing. You know, before 1x08 I would've agreed with you that I don't think that the writers were necessarily thinking romance this season but Bellamy's reaction to touching Clarke when he was teaching her how to shoot was pretty clear in that they wanted to show that there is something starting.

TBH, as long as the writers keep delivering like they have in the first 9 episodes, then that is all that matters to me. Planned or not, this is a beautiful ship.

Yep! I agree so much! They definitely saw the potential while filming and they wanted to test the waters but not go full blast. Which is working out perfectly! Can you imagine how amazing S2 most likely will be now that they know the gold mine they have in Bob/Eiza/Bellarke?

1x08 wasn't an accident. That one moment was a clear indication that something was being developed between them. Something more than just being allies. At least on Bellamy's part. It's like since 1x07, Bellarke has become more full fledged. I love it!!

I'm sure S2 is going to be amazing. I just hope the writers give Bellarke more build up before anything happens.

Will we ever see the adults/parents land on Earth, or will the main focus just be the teenagers surviving there on their own? I know Bellamy has been pardoned for his crimes (though I don't think we can really trust Jaha and I think he would go back on his word), but I do wonder what would happen if they came face to face again? I would love to see Clarke worried about what will happen to Bellamy (as they continue to grow closer, of course).

I hope the adults show up next season because I can't wait to see what happens when Clarke sees her mom again and when the adults try to become the leaders again while the kids already have their own society and rules. There's gping to be a huge conflict.
