I didn't ship Mattoline, but of all Caroline's love interests, I think she had the best chemistry with Matt. They were also the most realistic couple on the show.

I agree about them being the most realistic. Every time the L word gets brought up on this show for the first time for a couple I've never been able to buy it with the exception of these two. It made perfect sense. I just found myself getting annoyed with Matt's clueless behavior and misunderstanding of Caroline to root for them.

Matt bugged me in the beginning of their relationship, but I felt by season 2 he was devoted to Caroline. I understand why he couldn't be with a vampire, though.

Same for me. My main issue was the drama early on with Elena. Matt wasn't trying to intentionally hurt Caroline but it still wasn't fun and I couldn't get over it. I loved Matt's reaction to finding out about vampires. It was realistic and it was the first time I started liking him. I was cheering him on.

Aww, that was sweet.
It's good too. Because I was worried that last season Matt was looking like he was going to turn anti-Vampire. But at least he still knows who his friends are. __________________

I was hoping their scenes would be longer. Maybe in the next episode they can have some scenes. He wanted to know if she'd like to talk about her drama so I hope there's a follow up convo.
Wow. Just noticed it's been a whole year and we're still on the same page  Give them more scenes writers so we can talk about them  __________________
