I was aware of this but, I thought that I would share.
I’m going to go out on a limb and surmise that at least a few young viewers regularly tuned in to Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? less for the education in world geography and more for the fact that host Greg Lee was kind of cute – in a ’90s-tastic, PBS host way, sure, but still. Lee, who had previously been the co-host of the Nickelodeon game show Total Panic, has continued to act after the end of Carmen Sandiego, and Nickelodeon diehards might be surprised to learn he also provided the voice of the principal on Doug. Here's the link, Why Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? Was the Best Educational Show Ever __________________

That's one show I actually didn't watch. But thanks for the info regardless.
If anyone finds anything we could add to the OP, please post it here. __________________

I am seeing on my DVR that there will be some "Doug" episodes reairing later this week. I also liked the fact that this show showed a young man writing his thoughts down in a journal and it showed that he wasn't afraid to express himself. I also liked the message of the lucky hat that he finds but, Doug isn't selfish about letting it go and there was a theme of being grateful for the many great things that Doug has in his life which was done in a manner where it wasn't over-the-top.

^ Aww cool.
You made some good points about the show and the message it sent. I think there were a lot of touching moments on the show, it was a really well written cartoon. __________________

I was watching "Doug" tonight and saw how easily the kids read the cursive written note and it made me remember that there are schools that don't teach the kids cursive.

I guy that works for me, not sure how old he is at least in his early 20s can't write cursive at all. Can't even sign his name. Although the big lie about when I was learning cursive was that as an adult or even higher grades that's all you write in. Actually I do have a co manager and that's all she writes in. __________________

^ I think it used to be that way but went by the wayside. I've heard that they're going to start teaching kids to write in cursive again but not sure how true that is. I hope it is though, handwriting is an important life skill. You can't always rely on the internet/computers/tablets to do everything.
I do like that Doug was a male character who wrote in a journal and learned all these life lessons as he went along. He kind of reminds me of Kevin from The Wonder Years. __________________

I heard a while ago they stopped teaching cursive. It's so crazy to me, I'm only 32 and I remember learning it in elementary school. They should bring it back, it really helps with signing your signature with YOUR touch on it. I still prefer to write in cursive than print.
