Sean was on The Talk a few weeks ago. Here is the link to a post with the video in the McAbby thread.

Sean has confirmed that he will be staying with the show. Here is a few things he's said about his character, the show, & working with Mark Harmon:

Quote:
“It has been a wonderful ride so far,” Murray says. “Timothy McGee was unlike any character I had ever played before but I had a very clear idea of who he was.”

“What has kept it interesting for me is that there has been a progression in all the characters on the show over the years, and McGee more than anyone.”

In Season one, McGee had a relationship with forensic specialist Abby Sciuto (Perrette). Later he began dating cryptologist Delilah Fielding (Margo Harshman).

Starting as a junior field agent led to a lot of teasing from DiNozzo. McGee has also had his issues with supervisor Leroy Gibbs (Harmon).

“McGee was only meant to join the team for a few episodes but it just felt right — like a missing piece to the pie.

“I came back and did a big scene with Michael and you could start to feel the sort of rapport that Timothy and Tony would eventually build. Tony’s like the crazy older brother and McGee’s like the prudish younger brother.”

“The beauty of NCIS is that all the characters are a little different,” Murray says. “Because the show has run so long we’ve really gotten to explore that stuff a lot.

“When we first saw McGee he had a lot to learn. He was tech-savvy but he wasn’t street smart in any way.”

Murray started acting in his teens and built up a string of credits, including NCIS forerunner Jag as well as movies Hocus Pocus and This Boy’s Life, before 2003.

“When I first worked with Mark Harmon I was 15 years old on Harts of the West,” Murray recalls. “He had a pretty heavy guest role as a drunken rodeo clown in our second or third episode.

“Mark and I have similar work ethics. I’ve learned a tremendous amount from him over the years — about being an actor, about being part of the business.

“From the beginning we have all taken on more responsibility. You’re not just an actor. We all contribute ideas, we are very involved in our characters. We are all so close.”

Thanks for that Chelle. It was nice reading those things he said about the character, show, etc. That is neat he had worked with Mark previously! Did not know that.

I agree. I have a feeling I've read it before but had forgotten about it

I've never thought about it but I guess he really has had the most growing of all the characters. Others have grown but McGee we saw as a real probie & now he's a confident agent

I love that

You probably have

Yeah, I definitely think McGee has grown the most out of all the characters.

That is a great way to sum up Tony and McGee's relationship

I wouldn't be surprised. I've read a few things about him

it'd be interesting to discuss the growth of all the characters actually...

Watching SVU I had a thought - with Tony gone McGee could grow into a more important role. In SVU Olivia Benson was classed as a Junior Detective until Elliot left when she became Senior Detective. As more characters have left she's been promoted further to fill those spots left vacant. Of course in NCIS (& even in SVU for the detectives) they don't go around saying who the senior one is & they all work as a team but you know Tony is the Senior Special Agent (& I think he's said it on at least one occasion too). No matter how long McGee's been there he's always going to be probie to Tony. But without Tony then maybe he'll become the Senior Special Agent. Of course maybe it won't make a noticeable difference but it would still be a promotion

I think you are right. And actually, Tony has quit calling McGee probie after Bishop came in so I wouldn't surprised if that's what happens at all - McGee going to Sr Agent. And I do remember hearing someone Tony being Sr. Agent at some point.

Yeah as I was typing I was thinking how it has been a while since Tony has called McGee probie. He isn't a probie anymore, but in a way he'll always be it to Tony like Gibbs is to Franks. Only Franks calls Gibbs it a lot more than Tony calls McGee it . He's grown a lot & I'd love to see them throw in a line to say McGee is now the senior agent on the team now just to show further growth of the character & progression throughout the years: from probie, to agent, & then to senior agent

I see what you are saying and I agree. That would be great if they threw in a line like that at some point

I still really hope they tell us he is the senior agent I need this

Anyone have anything they'd like to see happen for McGee in the new season?
