Why did they do it.

on heels of the big launch storyline to the season. Avenging Emily's original lapse into drugs

Only for this to happen.

One of the downsides of a show existing so long. But still, I do not why they decided to do it. Especially this soon into the season.

I liked Emily's character

Loved Jimmy helping Kasie. It was a powerful moment.

Wow. And did they have to do it to Fornell. Now I cannot help but see the series finale ending up as Gibbs and Fornell as a Odds Couple type of duo. Sharing a house, cranky over their losses.

I liked the case. Ellie and Nick teaming up against truck. Of course she would have a app for food trucks.

I don't know it made sense to me... Relapsing, and dying in overdose could happen with anyone

I liked Emily too, but also feel like that her death or their fight to find the drug dealers wasn't pointless...

I can totally see either Gibbs & Fornell teaming up and leading their own PI office, or Gibbs moving after Sloane - if the show ends of course...

The case was interesting, and it's great that they remembered Bishop's addiction to food

I read a article with the actor who plays Palmer. And he did say he did not want the character to lose his brightness. So, it was perfect despite his recent loss to put it in prospective for Kasie. And to be the shoulder for her. I have noticed they have done it before where when it comes to family matters. Jimmy has brought comfort to Kasie.

I always loved Bishop's food obsession was a nice quirk about her. So, of course she would have a app for it.

I just might have liked the Emily twist to happen a little later than so soon after that story ...

First we get Breena's death, and then Jack leaves. And now this...with Emily. But like Co-vid. Death and drugs is so pointless because Emily had so much life to her...

I wonder if Fornell will spin once again. Maybe worry that his quest to move away might have taken Emily to relapse? Or they can say, co-vid put a lot of pressures on her...

NCIS knows how to shock. Just wish it was a little later...

That really was a great episode.

It was an interesting case and I also liked that they went back to Bishop's food addiction.

But the real great moments were the emotional ones, that I think were all over the episode. Kasie and Jimmy, Gibbs and Fornell, Everybody about Emily.
It was well played and I also liked the poem at the end.
There had been a time where I had thought about stop watching NCIS - when all my favorite characters had left though - but I now I am happy I didn't do it.
They are all doing a great job.

I think Emily's death was a little soon. they hit us all at once here. I feel like they could have spaced it out a little better but oh well. it was still a great episode

It just seem a little sudden. Especially since the last we saw. She seemed on a good roll, and had gotten her six moth chip. And was proud of the accomplishment.

They could have used a little more time to see that maybe the rough year of co-vid, and any other pressures might be getting to her, before this happened.

They could have used a little break before doing it.

Even if they are only doing 16 episodes this season.

It's possible that the original plan was to space these episodes out, but with the shorten season they wanted them all included

Or alternatively they wanted to shock us with the 3 happenings... RL has a tendency to throw you a curveball...

Nuwanda, I agree about the dynamics shifting! Kasie & Palmer work so well together, I almost even dare to say that Kasie & Palmer has a deeper friendship than Abby & Palmer did at times...

Obviously if they were able to finish last season like they would have wanted. We would have gotten the drug investigation last season. Then probably would have written out Jack since Maria wanted to leave early in the season. And it might not have felt so sudden.

Yeah the way this season has been. It felt so sudden, right after the drug investigation.

NCIS does have a tendency to shock us. They made you think something might happen to Kasie's mother.

Then bam.

Poor Fornell. Like Vance. I liked that he had children to keep him going after their big losses. To contrast to Gibbs.

Now this...

Gibbs really cared for Emily. Makes me wonder what the future will be.

I find it messed up that Emily's actress only found out through text when we did that Emily was killed off.
