Apparently the episode aired right before the 10th anniversary of the Srebrenica Massacre... Brcko is mentioned in regards to the trial of the former Serbian prime minister (which happened in 2004) __________________

I know that this thread hasn't been updated in quite some time.. but I caught one real life reference in the episode which has just aired (21x03).
But after 2 hours of watching the episode, and checking it lnline as well... can't find it...  *will edit my post tomorrow afternoon on this  EDITED: The former NCIS agent, whom they are looking after has supposedly left NCIS after a bombing in Valencia 8 years ago... I couldn't find the exact article, but I assume that they are referring to the 2016-2017 period when Spain was victim of a couple terrorist attacks. The most famous were the 2017 barcelona attacks *It's not an exact match - but it's not fiction either. __________________

The background of 12x19 episode was real - there was indeed a terrorist attack in 1979. 1975 LaGuardia Airport bombing Officially they have never found the responsible person for this attack. __________________

Only thing I know is real off the top of my head is when Abby builds a diorama of the Gallipoli campaign (I think it is S1). There really was a Gallipoli Campaign, that's a big part of ANZAC/Australian history. But I feel like they do use historical moments when bringing in storylines like the ones you mentioned. Even if they then tweak things for their own storyline. __________________
