Yeah - together they were awesome....I had to rewind that last number when I first watched the movie! I love the part when they they bring out the gun props and then the shot goes to richard gere - what a great moment

In the final scene I found myself really comparing the dancing, of course that was kinda inevitable because they were side by side.

No, I found her dancing better than her singing. I like Renee in alot of other things I just never felt she was built for musicals and the fact she is playing Janis Joplin in a film frankly scares me.

Wow...I didn't know about her playing Janis Joplin either
I didn't think her singing was back and matched the role very well - I think she definitely wouldn't have fit as a Velma at all. I was surprised by how well Richard Gere did. __________________

Yeah, her voice is not Janis like but I haven't heard if they are going to go the Ray route and dub the voice.
Gere was great, he had all facets and his little tap dancing part was one of my favorite movie moments. __________________

I gotta say that I love Jerry Orbach. Him, in this scene, was perfection.

I saw this on Broadway in NYC and it was awesome. When I went Usher was supposed to be in it but the night I went he was sick so he couldn't preform, so many people refunded their ticket, which is a huge shame because his understudy was amazing.

Jerry Orbach, I really liked him. I remember right after he died they played alot of Chicago clips and people were saying "I didn't know he was the original Billy," and I was kinda like "where were you?"
It's disappointing that people didn't stay but not surprising. I'd imagine alot of people who went weren't really theatre goers per say but bought tickets to watch him. __________________
