And think is because Sheldon is a composite of people they really know, so they have a real frame of reference for his behavior.
I don't know how its possible that I've never considered how Amy fared during their "break-up," but now it's all I can think about... so, um, thanks for that. I really agree though, that I doubt she was as broken up as he was. I know there are different schools of thought on this, but (despite his initial reluctance to make their relationship "official" and other norms that would probably be more fulfilling and stable for Amy) I really think that Sheldon... if he were being honest with himself, I think he sees their relationship as permanent. She is really embedded in who he is now, and I think he loves her in a very fundamental way (with or without the romance). I think that Amy, naturally, has no intentions of ever breaking up with him and she wants him to be her man, but if they were to break up, she'd probably cry a week a two and then move on. Tied to this point, I think she has a list of things she won't tolerate and if he violates those things, he would happily kick him to the curb. However, I think Sheldon couldn't bear not be with Amy. I think that if they broke up he would be rattled to the core. Also, I think if she did something he couldn't tolerate(a list that is probably considerably shorter than hers and would involve, like, cheating) he would be like Adam Sandler in that movie "Spanglish." When his wife (Tea Leone) admitted to cheating on him, he looked at her--glassy-eyed--and said (in one of the most-heartbreaking scenes ever) "Really?" He couldn't even process that he was in a situation where he had to contemplate their relationship ending. And I don't know if Amy has synthesized within herself the fact that he feels that way, but I think she discerns his devotion and that's why she's willing to wait him out. Because honestly, that doesn't come along everyday. It really doesn't.

Yes, I've noticed it too. Whenever we would speculate what might be the future episode, some would suggest that it's time for another L/P episode but we end up with something that centers around Sheldon. I've come to consider that the writers are really up to something big pretty soon (and saying this as someone who is just guessing and hasn't even read a thing from Bill Prady), with the way they are trying to give Sheldon a push.

I remember someone pointed out that the last episode was actually subtly introducing the audience to the fact that he is changing, growing. As fan who has grown to analyze the show, it bothered me that Sheldon was rather calm when he realize that nothing bad happened to him when he didn't get his haircut. I was expecting a breakdown of some sort or him even sounding a bit rant-y and even whiny but no. I know that at times my brain tends to mix up fanfic and canon and that from most fanfics, one simple change makes him crazy and that whenever he realize it's a good change, he tends to retreat-- which is actually the opposite based on the last episode. L and P even helped him realize that "chaos" is a good thing and he even "embraced the chaos". I think this realization would truly have something to do with future S/A interactions and things to go along the Shamy front.

And then this coming episode seems to give us something more that is to talk about. [shutting up now]


Amy has been the most interesting female character I've ever stumbled upon. Yes, my admiration towards her is way beyond anyone I've ever met. She makes watching the show even better. And character-wise, she is the only one who suits him, no arguments there.

Agree. He has belittled everyone around him and when he suddenly does that to Amy, it was the first time he felt guilt and that on each passing episode, he has warmed up to her field of study, which was more than anything he has ever done.

Ooooh, the Spanglish connection! that is simply heartbreaking. But I think Amy has now grown to like him on the same level as he likes her. If I were to consider Mayim's observation of her character, that she (Amy) will do anything just to be with Sheldon (justified by the 5.12 episode, and more), then I can say that she is right. Of course, it's not like she's flat-out obsessed with him and is inclined to be giving him free pass for his wrongdoings just because he is her boyfriend. I know we all agree with that. She knows how to talk his language and justify things to him and even make him freakin apologize for pete's sake.

Edit: I'm watching new fanvids and trying to check if they're super kilig. So far, I feel like I'm on the verge of insanity because I had a breakdown a few minutes ago in front of my computer when I saw the shamy kiss again. I was looking intently at Sheldon and as if my mind went a step back and tried to absorb the moment.

It's so sweet. And has that feeling of innocence.

Edit 2: And now I just saw the hand-holding again... and I replayed for more than a few times how Amy's hand sneaked to touch his and that he instinctively grabbed and clung on to hers. It's as if it was a natural thing to do. UGH! and when he let go, it was like he suddenly realized what HE just did and proceeded with his ever defense mechanisms.

Oh, and the snuggle! oh, swear to cow I need a towel.
