Basically, what I'm seeing in this thread is things being painted with a rose tint. I don't see this love yet. I do see affection, but I don't see all this sacrifice they have for each other. I'm seeing something grow, but definitely not some sort of undying love.

That's why we have threads for different couples. There are one or two threads at this board that I think are turning a lot of things into what they aren't, but that's why I don't post in those threads. (Also, 'rose tint' can be considered disrespectful to posters on this site so I wouldn't use that phrase.) All couples, the ones I ship, the ones I don't, the ones you ship, and the ones you don't, are shipped by people who turn ambiguity into what they want it to mean. This thread is no different, and it's impossible to ship anything completely objectively.

The exact nature of their attachment has been discussed at length, particularly last week. There is a camp (which I am in) that is relunctatnt to use the world "love" YET, but there are others who aren't reluctant. I, paradoxically, wrote a small essay about the meaning of love (specifically eros) to the ancient Greeks a few days ago that I won't inflict on the board again. I can't speak for everyone, but a very GENERAL consensus here (according to my understanding) is that they are in the early stages of their relationship, but they are kind of meant for each other and Sheldon is attached to Amy in a more visceral, fundamental way. She has a more tranditional romantic attachment to him, in addition to their mutual intellectual attraction. The details vary from one shipper to the next, and there is a lot of fangirl confetti being thrown around (Especially today, if you haven't already noticed. This is a Shamy holiday) but there's also been discussion about their challenges (eg. Sheldon's ego, their shared immaturity, and her budding sexual desire).

Oh, I meant no disrespect. I am a Sheldon/Amy shipper all the way! I hope that the relationship grows into something wonderful. I suppose I should have put it in better words, and please, everyone, understand that I respect everyone's opinions! I suppose I'm trying to see things from other peoples' perspectives and I went about it the wrong way.

What I'm trying to say is that I'm not sure how others are seeing this big LOVE for each other. I only see growing affection. Please forgive my careless wording.

Why is it Shamy holiday? That last part is kinda what I was expecting. Good to know there are different levels of S/A ship love!

So excited for the parade...and to get in on any continued discussion. Toward the end of the last thread, I couldn't do anything but lurk in awe of the discussions being held. You guys seriously rock me like a hurricane.

Anywho...off to continue working on my contribution *biting my nails* This came up way faster than I had planned for! Oh well...

...so what are the parameters of this thing? Should we set a closing time or something...I'm just a tad confused on the process I guess


Also, with the parade, the new episode tonight, AND all of the crazy good discussion we have had lately, I fear we might have a bit of a frenzy on our hands. I don't know...anybody have any thoughts as to the logistics of this???

I get what you mean. I agree that with the Shamy, the thought of "love" might be a little hasty. But for me at least, I think I tend to go there because it is so exciting to see this growing affection between two characters that tend to be far less emotive and socially affectionate than most other characters...like ever. This relationship is so significant for the personal development of both characters, that it is difficult not to imagine they would be starting to feel some strong unprecedented emotions towards one another. To me this quickly growing affection is a sign of falling in love. Now I don't necessarily expect to see and ILY anytime soon on the show, nor do I really want one because it is so much fun to see them operate in the place they are now in their relationship. For me, I just get super excited thinking about the possibilities for them, one of which is definitely love. I don't necessarily think that either character has even consciously thought about love at this point, but that doesn't stop me from trying to play detective and predicting when this might possibly happen. For me, this is a big part of why shipping them is so fun!

This. As far as possible, I think we do try to analyze situations objectively, but we're human and we're in love with this thing (whatever it is) and that's what this thread is for.

Because this group set a goal to have 30 threads by the end of the season back when this thread was really fledgling (and Shamy is still at the shallow end of the shipper pool). So as 30 threads approached we started planning a Shamy Parade (based on the Valentine's Day Parade a few threads back). Everyone's really excited. But discussion (and respectful disagreement) soldiers on always.

Yes, lots of levels of Shamy shipping. Some think they love each other, some thing no yet, but they're steadily progressing toward it (me), etc. Just like some of us want Shamysex eventually and others would rather they not. (Again, me.)
