It wasn't from the stream. I think there were just different outlets with coverage here and there. FoxsportsWest had live coverage I believe, but I don't think it's available for anyone that isn't in that region.

How does the AHL fit in with the NHL? Does the AHL feed into the NHL?

Yes. There are a lot of lower leagues. AHL directly feeds to the NHL, ECHL (the league I used to work for) feeds into the AHL, occasionally you'll get a jump from the ECHL to the NHL. Usually goalies.

There's also usually a lot of shifting of the minor leagues, when I worked for the ECHL it was the UHL when I started, then the IHL and then the team merged into the ECHL.

Every NHL team has an AHL affiliate and probably an ECHL affiliate. The Red Wings AHL affiliate is the Grand Rapids Griffins. Their ECHL affiliate is the Toledo Walleye.

So it's similar to baseball. Football doesn't have that though right? Football is such a different animal.

You're getting a lot more college hockey players now. There was a time where they were just poaching all this overseas talent and dropping them into the minors here that the college hockey players were being squeezed out. You'll probably still have a kid drafted out of college maybe playing a year in the minors to acclimate. But yes, like baseball.

There's nothing like that with football, you're just thrown into it.

So the Barstool guys (the one that just had the meltdown over Taylor) debut their show tonight on Comedy Central at midnight. They're in Houston for the Superbowl.

Growing up, we had a second home in the Poconos and we'd often go to Triple A Phillies games. I used to know all the players and would be able to pick who was going to get called up and I was right most of the time. Maybe I should have been a scout. Plus when the big guns were recuperating from injury they would come there to play a few games. A lot of fun.

I guess college is like the football minor league.

We have a minor league team in Frisco. They feed into the Rangers team.

Not sure why football doesn't have a similar system. They have arena and European teams...

When I was in college, on the west side of the state, that's where the Tigers double A team is located and we'd drive up to Grand Rapids every once in a while, they always had fun promotions but same thing, they would send some Tigers there for rehab assignments. I went and saw Granderson rehab there when he was with the Tigers.

I didn't watch the show last night, I was asleep by like ten, but they have a radio show that they're doing live today that I might listen into.
