There were so many people out this past weekend in Venice. The beaches are still closed and for the most part, people are abiding to it but not without A LOT of over-crowding of other outdoor spaces. I sometimes think that keeping everyone off the beaches (although makes sense) just increases the crowding of parks, streets and everywhere else we are "allowed" to go. I know it is a numbers game at this point with this illness (everything seems to be contingent on the statistics), but I think in the next week or two, something is going to have to give, even if its just slowly - especially given that testing and the statistics we are basing all this on aren't really that accurate to begin with. Even just writing this, I find myself going back and forth with how I feel about it. Right now, May 15 is the date that beach closures will supposedly end in LA and personally, I'm good with that date. Beyond that, I just really don't know.

I got my antibody test back. Negative. DARN!! I REALLY thought I had it. If a better test comes along, I will take another one.

Just started Season 2 of Little House. I cry in every friggen episode. They had so much **** happen to them. I want to be like Ma. And I want a man like Pa.

That stinks that it was negative. They do have that new one that they approved today that should have a 99.9% accuracy.

Y’all. It was 95 yesterday. There are definitely more ppl out and about. Here’s my confusion...restaurants and retail are only supposed to be at 25% capacity. Lowe’s has been open all along. They were packed yesterday! No one was at the door or monitoring the number of ppl in the store. Same with the grocery store. It was wall to wall ppl on Saturday. What’s the point in limiting some places, and not others? Our parks, lakes, etc. are open. Like A said, as it’s nicer, ppl are more willingly to get out. There’s more traffic, but certainly not like before. We have a lot of places still not open, and they can be. Places that want to be open and can’t. I don’t even know what I think anymore.

Kiki, I’ll be interested to see if a different test yields the same or different results. If it’s different, which one do you believe?

I'm not sure any of us know what we are supposed to do anymore ... I think we are all in limbo and I have a sense that we are just going to have to be this way for a while. Personally, I just try to make the best choices for myself and do what I can to keep others as safe as I can as best as I can ... and take long deep breaths.

Not sure how much California's decisions will determine when/how the entertainment industry restarts as so much production is done out of state and in all different states. Probably will be a decision made by the who/what/where/how of the specific project.

I was at Home Depot yesterday to get paint samples...this is again, me feeling guilty about doing something like that when it feels to early to be out in public. But most were wearing masks, though some were bitching about it. We were at Trader Joe's today and the person at the door who was limiting who could come in at once actually asked a guy in front of me if he had a mask because he wouldn't be let in if he didn't. That's the mandate here now, if you're in a public place or at work you have to wear a mask.

But then we did a big family zoom call tonight and we always do Memorial Day weekend at our cottage and that came up, none of us really knew what to say...hopefully we'll see you all up there. I feel like we can't just isolate for the entire year, though, it also feels like now that NYC's numbers are going down that the prevailing opinion is that things are getting better even though it's not, it's definitely picking up around the country now whereas in New York or New Jersey or even here in Michigan we've reached our peak and numbers are declining, but cases across the state where there were none before are now increasing in more rural areas.

Last night we walked outside and our jungle had been mowed! I was moved to tears. It was so sweet. I even called my parents and told them. I had no idea who did it. About 11pm, I got a text from our landlord that he had it done, and I had to reimburse him the $125.00 for just the front yard. We’ve been working on it. I know it wasn’t perfect yet. No notice? No heads up? No telling me the cost upfront? I had two bids that were both less than $125.00 and it included the backyard. My act of random kindness was not after all. I was so touched, and then I wasn’t.

That stinks. He should have at least given you the heads up that he was mowing the lawn and that there would be a charge. Or check in to see if you had plans to do it.

And why the heck would it cost $125.00, granted I have no idea what lawn services cost. I just mow my own lawn, but that sounds like a lot.

Did you confront him?

I worry that when we come out of lockdown the numbers will go back up.

We traded a few texts, but he’s said nothing since last night.

I'm sorry that happened - especially if that amount doesn't even cover the whole yard. Not a great time to be pulling **** like that with people struggling financially.

I had that thought too. I really feel like he had an obligation to inform me first. He’s really a nice guy, to be honest, this is out of character for him.

It’s not even a good job! They didn’t bag the cuttings or edge. I’m not paying anyone anything until they come back and fix the front yard, and do the backyard.

We’ve spent a few hours raking and bagging the cuttings Thankfully, it’s been cooler this morning.

It just seems unreasonable if you have an agreement that you take care of the lawn care that he'd just go ahead and do it without speaking with you about it.

Our stay at home was extended today until May 28th, protests incoming, I'm sure. They're going to start allowing some manufacturing jobs to return next week but pretty much everything else is still work from home.

He’s not mentioned it again...now there’s a bigger issue. A pest guy came by drum up business and I asked him about some ants I saw on the house. He said they are carpenter ants and are nesting in the wood on the house. Yikes! They will eat the wood. I have to take pictures tomorrow and text them to my landlord.

Oh no! That's so scary, they can cause a ton of damage.

I've been busy helping paint over at my friends house. It's nice to have two people painting but usually if it's in my house I just knock it all out at once. This room is big though, it's taking forever.

I don’t think they are carpenter ants. I think they are fire ants... either way, they are not welcome.

I think I found a DIY project I can do that’s quick and easy! I want to make a cobblestone looking path from concrete. I can start it at the driveway and wind it around to the back gate. The hardest part will be digging up a little of the dirt to be able to lay the stones. We need a path in the backyard from the deck to the back gate that leads to the trail behind us. I only need one mold. Now to get the kids on board.
