Miserable weather here. Temps running 20 - 30 degrees below normal.
Snow on the way.

FoxPhile 11-08-2019 03:21 PM

No sign of snow here. I know people think I'm crazy, but I'm gonna miss snow.

It was. And I've been working all weekend, too. :thud:

stlavin95 11-10-2019 09:21 PM

How long were you working for both days?

@l3jandra 11-11-2019 08:59 AM

Why were you working last weekend, Heidi?

stlavin95 11-11-2019 02:05 PM

^ Get up to anything this weekend?

We were installing some major new functions in our internal customer application. I was troubleshooting.

Exactly what do you do if you don't mind me asking?

Were there a lot of problems? Or were you there in case something came up?

I work with computer systems. My title is Senior Developer, but I do everything from technical writing to design and development to troubleshooting. I've worked for the same company for over 40 years, all working with the same department on their computer systems, so I have a lot of knowledge about the business, not just the technical skills.

There were some problems. There almost always are, but I think it wasn't as much this time as it has been in the past. We've had to sort of train our business clients on how to test systems. We went from using software from an outside vendor - which is thoroughly pre-tested - to building systems in-house which requires much more extensive testing. Our clients are just starting to get the hang of how to do that, so they tested this part much more than they have similar things in the past - but there are still issues.

@l3jandra 11-13-2019 10:33 AM

What software do you use for designing?

FoxPhile 11-13-2019 04:35 PM

I'm a data designer and I'm pretty old school. I don't really use any design software.

I had the flu, so I didn't get up too much
