I'm gonna do a whole lot of nothing, Katie. I can't go anywhere I planned because of the damn pandemic, so I'm just gonna laze around.

I hope you're doing okay down there, Sam.

My Flyers made the #1 seed in the Stanley Cup Playoffs!
I didn't, they just told me to call next time.

that will still be nice. I should take some days off.

I probably could take two or three days off. anything would be nice.

Alex - on my amazon fire stick home page, there's a place that has a list of popular eighties movies. I'll try and watch some.

I watched The Virgin Suicides and Heathers last night. they were pretty good.

Well, that's good. I'm glad you didn't get penalized. And I do hope you get some time off, Katie.

You did? Great! I hope you can watch some of the 80s movies I suggested.

OMG, you saw Heathers? That's one of my favorite movies from the 80s! I saw that in 1989 on cable TV when I was 19. It came out on cable pretty quickly because it flopped at the box office, but it's now a classic. I never saw The Virgin Suicides. That's a Sofia Coppola movie, isn't it? That's from the 90s.

I think the NFL plans to go head with the season, Sam. I just hope there are no incidents like what happened with MLB.

I hope you're doing okay down there, Sam.

One more week and I'm on my two week vacation!

I hope you didn't waste your money either. Let's just hope that by the end of next year we're back to normal.

Yeah, it's gonna be good to have two weeks off. I'm hoping I can accumulate enough personal time off so that I can take another vacation at the end of October. After this one I'll have maybe ten or fifteen hours left. But by October I'll hopefully have close to forty.

I can see why it flopped honestly. it was good in that old school classic way.

you're right about The Virgin Suicides, it was weird but pretty good.

You got a hockey pass too? What team do you follow? Was it the Penguins? I forgot.

Thanks. This two week vacation will be the longest vacation I've ever had from work.

Why do you say that, Katie? Heathers is a classic and it got rave reviews, and I think it was also nominated at the Independent Spirit Awards. But I think it was perhaps a bit too dark for 1989 when most audiences were used to John Hughes high school comedies like Pretty In Pink and Sixteen Candles. And what do you mean "in that old school classic way?" Heathers was anything but when it came out. It was totally subversive.

I never saw The Virgin Suicides. But I'm glad you liked it.

I hope you get a chance to see the movies I've suggested. I have a two week vacation coming up so I'll have plenty of time to bug you about it.

I don't know, it kinda funny but just so cheesy. that probably is true, I can imagine people would think so. I didn't think it was dark though. I meant that it's that cheesy kind of movie that you look back on and it's just dated but still pretty good. I didn't mean when it came out, I meant now.

I will.

You paid that much?

So you root for the Flames and the Penguins? I know that the Flames are in the playoffs. I don't know about the Penguins.

Thanks. Three more days now.

Ohh, so you have a problem with the 80s look of the film? Don't like the big hair? Or the shoulder pads on the girls' outfits? Or perhaps the acid washed denim? Or maybe the Swatch watches?

You didn't think it was dark? Man, it was really controversial at the time.

I hope you can. You're missing out on some great 80s stuff.

Here, let me show you these trailers for two 80s sci-fi/horror documentaries, In Search of Tomorrow, and In Search of Darkness:

Oh, I see. Well, I lived through the 80s, so to me it's just the real world. Feels like yesterday. Things were a bit calmer. Amazing how living under the threat of nuclear war makes people appreciate things. But nobody freaked out about stuff back then like they do now. Today everyone's freaking nuts.

True, but then again I keep hearing people say how "you could never make those movies today" when talking about the 80s. I think for a lot of people, Heathers looks a lot different in the post-Columbine world of the 21st century.

You're welcome. I loved those trailers when I saw them. I wanted to cry.

Oh, is it, Sam? I wasn't sure of the rate of exchange over there.

I see. Well, I hope we can knock out those Canadiens.

Thanks. This will be the longest vacation from work I've ever taken.
