Holy triple post!

( )

It's sad that The Ranch really doesn't seem to be for me, I'd like to see Ashton and Danny acting together again.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like your kind of show, tbh. Though, again, the second half is better than the first.

Lulu: Lisa, is the second half better than the first?

Lisa: YES.

Clearly you do, wow.

I mean, what you wrote about S1-B doesn't sound terrible, but eh... Not enough time in the day to watch everything, so priorities have to be defined.

Yup. I totally understand.

---

I watched a bit of That '70s Musical recently; specifically, the scene where the gang TPs the house of Fez's music teacher (Mr. Wilkinson). A good part of that was improvised, and DM and AK's friendship is very obvious during it. I recognized the same silly-affectionate interaction there that they have while promoting The Ranch together.

Yeah. It's so DM/AK, not Hyde and Kelso. But one can reasonably transfer that affection onto Hyde/Kelso's friendship (since they're supposed to be in-character during that scene). It's nice to see.

Yeah, that's really neat!

Yeah. In That '70s Show, in particular, the actors' relationships to one another in real life seem to leak onto the screen in certain scenes, and it adds to their characters' relationship. Like when Kelso says dillhole things to Fez, and Fez reacts, Hyde clasps Fez's shoulder in a supportive way. It's another example that shows despite Hyde's tendency to be sarcastic toward his friends, he truly does care about them.

Definitely comes with the territory of what the show was, it's easy to let their personal relationships bleed into the show without it being weird. On other shows, that simply isn't possible because it would mess with the plot and character relationships as they are supposed to be.

This brings to mind a certain show ... that ... well ... discussion for another place.

I still would've liked to see -- once Kelso finally "released Jackie" -- what Hyde and Kelso's friendship was pre-Jackie. Or, maybe, to have Hyde unable to go back to that because of how Kelso treated Jackie in S1-S4.

Yes, it does.

That would be really cool to see, though it would've been tough to see Hyde being unable to carry on the way it was. Sad stuff!

Yeah. The writers didn't think all that deeply on every subject/bit of characterization -- and some they wrote very badly.

But I do like the moments/scenes in S1 where we get some idea of why/how Hyde and Kelso were friends pre-Jackie.

Hyde's fist pump in the banner! Nice new OP, Lisa.
