Hey all
 Thought I would introduce myself... I'm Lee I was totally in love with BH 90210 even though I was only 2 when the show first hit Australian screens  Thank God for re-runs! And when I was younger and was watching it for the first time, I wanted to be Brenda sooo much lol.. And I adore Shannen Doherty - I stopped watching after Shannen left. The show just wasn't as good without her for me. Now I have relented and have seen the entire series through (thank God for DVD's and re-runs haha) but still maintain the show was missing something without Shannen. Anywho, I mostly come on here and post on the 90210 v.2 board and only tonight discovered this board even existed! But I'll pop in from time to time to chat . OH! It's officially Christmas now Merry Christmas, Brenda/Shannen shippers __________________

Hi, Lee!
So glad you found this board. I've seen you on the new 9-0 board before.  Wow, you've finished watching the entire series?!?  Not an easy feat by any stretch. Total agreement, the show was quality entertainment during the Shannen/Brenda years and a lot of that is to her credit. The later years are just such heavy character-driven melodrama, it gets harder and harder to relate. Anyway, nice to have you here.  Merry Christmas all! I was/am so addicted to BH90210... I just wish all the teeniboppers who put crap on it would admit or realise that 90210 was a cult phenomenon and prepared the way for Gossip Girl, The OC, One Tree Hill... All of it.__________________

ITA.
It's hard, though, I think. When you watch newer shows, they seem to look and feel "better", but this one had the simple yet memorable characters and storylines, so it sticks with people longer. Welcome again! |

I'd like to think so too since they grew up being besties. Though while Valerie was always her own character, in the beginning of season 5 she seemed pretty intent of single white femaling Brenda's life (Living with her family, sleeping in her room, screwing her ex, trying to belong in her old group of friends), so I can see them having some conflict in the beginning.

Yes, I agree. Val started out as a threat to everyone.
 I actually think Brenda would have also found herself in Brandon's position with Valerie. He felt an obligation to step in and defend her to the gang who hated her for some reason or another constantly, while he himself was getting fed up (pregnancy/abortion/extortion). But come S8 and 9, I could see a really great friendship there. Val had settled down. |
