For me, Brandon and Andrea were real deal on the show. Yes I always a Brenda/Dylan fan, grew to love Brandon/Kelly but come on!! what the hell did they do with these two, really upsetted me that they didn't get paired up

Well Brandon and Andrea along with Dylan and Brenda were the frontrunners of the show. They spent 3 seasons with Brandrea and nothing to show for it. But I think the show were planning Brandon to be with Kelly as his main girl

I guess Gabby's pregnancy ultimately messed up things with them. But yeah, I guess writers and producers wanted to finally give Brandon steady pairing with some of the main girls, and Kelly turned out to be more popular than Andrea by S4.

Well yeah but come to think of it, I think Brandon and Kelly was predestined. They did not want to put 2 couples together at the same (Brenda/Dylan and Brandon/Kelly) which is why they reserved BK for later on so I think Brandon and Andrea was more for his "ifs and buts" relationship in HS but not his long term destiny, I think it was reserved for him to be with Kelly and it did made sense in the end

I do think that BK was reserved for a right time - which I believe Darren Star said in the S1 DVD. But I think if Andrea had stayed and had not gotten pregnant, she might've been the one who would become Editor and Chief of the Condor after Josh Richland. In that case, Susan wouldn't have been needed and Brandon/Andrea might've finally became a couple. The writers could add Kelly to that mix for another triangle. But to me, it's still BK all the way!

Darren Star mentioned it which means they already had BK in mind but as you said they were waiting for the right time. With Gabriele being pregnant for real may have changed thing. I agree that she would be definitely the Editor and Chief at The Condor and Susan wasn't required but Brandon and Andrea as a couple in later seasons would have been a slim possibility. In season 1, they kind of did a Brandon/Kelly/Andrea triangle but it wasn't serious. However, this could have been explored more in season 2 since Brenda/Dylan were together at the time - might have been an interesting love triangle. To be honest, I would have liked that triangle much more than Brenda/Dylan/Kelly or Brandon/Kelly/Dylan (hated this triangle the most)
