Is the relationship between Starbuck and Apollo something that could ever work out or are they in a bad cycle of repeating mistakes?

I don’t think that Lee and Kara will ever be happy together. I don’t think that they’re meant to be together. I think that they’re meant to be best friends, they’re meant to push each other, they’re meant to have those arguments that drive you. That’s the purpose that I feel that they serve in each other's lives.
I don’t think that they were ever meant to love each other. I don’t think they’ll ever end up together; I never did really.
If there’s anyone that she would actually allow herself to be happy with and be with, it’d probably be Leoben Conoy [a Cylon]. Anders is too weak for her emotionally. Lee is too much of a boy scout. He makes her feel guilty for her anger and her—who she is, her faults. … And so if there was any person that she could let her guard down with and be happy with, probably Leoben.

I really love these two together. Lee/Kara has never really done anything for me. And as much as I love Sam, I don't think that he has quite the same amount of...heat that Leoben has with Kara.

I couldn't find one so I thought I would start one, even though I had never started an appreciation thread before.

I love them together too. And besides the heat, what makes their interaction interesting is how he seems to be helping Kara grow into a better place. He guided her in resolving her relationship with her mother. I think she started to be able forgive her mother and therefore was able start to forgive herself too.

I totally agree with this. Leoben is one of the few people that can actually push Kara out of her comfort zone. Of course, he does so in the most crazy way possible, but still. If not for him, I think she would still be the same Kara that we met in the miniseries. A great deal of her progression as a person is due to him. And they had the hottest sex scene on the show. Which is equally important.

I just watched episode 3.07, 'A Measure of Salvation' for the second time and saw the deleted scenes this time. There is a whole scene where Kara interrogates Leoben, with the other sick cylons looking on.

Leoben told her his plan was to find someone to love and to have her love him back. Kara was very hard on him. He said that Kara still had so much love and hate for him and that they had made a real connection. Callum gave a very good performance of speaking through his pain. At the very end of the scene Katee gives Callum a little wink. If that scene had not been deleted the wink would have been cut. It was really cute.

Looking at that wink again maybe that was part of the script and Kara was just taunting Leoben. Not sure now.
