Derek admitted today that they knew in advance, so it's not even in doubt now that they had time to do better. They knew it was happening, so there was no excuse for it to be so messy.

Idk, I'm not sure how they could even make this make sense because this whole thing doesn't work as an exit. Like they can say she went to PR but that hardly works as a long term explanation for her absence considering the ties she has (husband, parents, brother, niece etc.), you can't really keep it going for longer than a season, and that's at a stretch, imo.

Yea, its got me wondering...how can you explain her abruptly leaving her husband unless something happens to her. How would it take more than a season to explain it....

That's just it, you can't explain it. They can say they discussed it and decided she should go to PR to give them some space, but that only works temporarily unless she dies out there, and going by what Derek is saying, they don't plan on killing her. It just doesn't work.

Seems like he's writing based on what he hopes happens in the future, and that's just not a good idea. The story needs to make sense, and this just doesn't.

They need new fresh ideas that make sense....I love this show, but I think a lot of times things are just dropped and not further explained. It's frustrating as a fan.

It really is. Things need to be followed through. Med does it most of the time (Still not over Sarah's two most recent arcs), so Fire should be able to. I haven't watched a full seventh season of a show that isn't a crime show or a comedy since 2006, I really thought Fire was going to be an exception to that but this mess isn't encouraging. I am just so beyond done with bad writing.
