Or a lot of the other contracts are up at the end of next season and NBC want to reevaluate the whole show then?

It would make sense to if that's when a lot of the contracts end, but if they're all six years then Kara's would be up at the end of season 8, not 7, and Miranda's would be season 9.

If she ever does come back, I can't see it being that soon, especially if Jesse doesn't leave at that point because they wouldn't have his exit to try and convince her to return for.
