I end up really protective of teenage girls, which is interesting because I didn't love teenage girl drama when I was a teenage girl, lol. But I'm so tired of them being used for views and clicks and then completely demeaned and exploited.

It reminds me of how Josh and Stephanie are still asked, to this day, about Marissa's death. It will follow their careers forever, lol. |

Well, killing Marissa was a total unforced error. Based on a bad perception of the overall fandom.

I still wish more show runners would take it as the cautionary tale it is, though.

If it's not a show that obviously has these kinds of things coming (so Sons of Anarchy, Game of Thrones, etc), then major deaths really SHOULDN'T be used for shock value. Even ON those shows, I've seen mistakes made. They killed Opie off too soon on SoA.

Think they could have done a bit later in the season, but I saw it coming after they killed Piney.

It's such a desperately ploy too.
If they want to commit to that storyline that the full consequences of it need to be realised, not neatly wrapped up in a few episodes (if at all). |

Opie was coming to a tragic end from the pilot, but I think the end was a little too premature for its impact on Jax.
That's the frustrating thing. As a culture, the realty of death is very uncomfortable. We don't want to look at it too long. Particularly a parent losing a child - that will essentially ruin the parent's life and all they'll have left, forever, is the remnants they manage to put back together. So TV shows kill characters for shock value and then skip past the uncomfortable, long-term aspects of grief. __________________

That's true, but I think Sons could have finished a bit early than what it did tbh.

Honestly, yeah, it could have ended a season earlier. Lord knows Gemma went on too long, lol.

Definitely, lol
Plus there was a bit of a filler in the last 2 or 3 seasons |
