Which I actually think is very UN Mischa, lol. Mischa, for all she's been so often accused of being a famewhore, is actually hugely private. She almost never discusses her personal life. We hardly know who she's dated in years. When we DID know, it's because she was literally a teenager (not a breed known for their ability to show self-control among their significant others, lol).

Exactly. And you can make mistakes in the public eye without that being a cry for fame. Sometimes it's just life, people.

I think some of her mistakes have been for this defiant attitude she has- which CAN be ill-advised, lol- to live her life how she sees fit while determinedly ignoring her critics. Which isn't the worst idea- except when you also ignore the ones who aren't hating you for hatred's sake, but might genuinely have some good points.

On topic, I think part of this film is her way of poking fun at herself, and the idea people have about her, which is a fairly healthy attitude to take and one she probably wouldn't have been able to a few years ago.

And Mischa is taking on the voice of someone who knows this lifestyle might not be healthy, which was probably deliberate on her part.

I think this kinda flopped over the weekend, even for an indie release.

$2,421 across 7 screens for a $346 per screen average.

I saw a couple of clips and the odd review here and there, but nothing in the way of announcing to the public at large that this movie was being released.

Hopefully VOD hits soon. Sometimes these things find themselves more success when people are randomly checking stuff out on iTunes or DVD.

It's not unheard of, for a film to be regarded as a flop on theatrical release, only to make it's money on the home video market. Fingers crossed, by the time Operator is released, we will have heard of another of Mischa's films coming our way.

I think probably a lot of indies end up that way. Audiences now know it'll hit VOD quickly, so it can be pretty tough to entice audiences to all but maybe one or two per weekend to go out of their way to a certain theater. And when a film had all but no press like this one...
