And more of an acknowledgment that Ryan's inability to talk about the situation was impacting Marissa, without the Johnny story stuck in there to somehow STILL make Ryan appear to be the primary victim.

Yeah, that would have been better than another Marissa is the bad guy storyline.

And Josh certainly knew full well after Oliver how the audience would respond to the Johnny storyline, so it felt like he was deliberately throwing her under the bus.

I don't think online boards are ever the best indicator of an overall audience, because we're way more invested than the average viewer. But fairly snooty TWoP was an extra bad indicator of The OC.

No idea lol, he was pretty inexperienced back when the OC was airing.

He was so full of himself when The OC took off, and then he became so obsessed the "critical darling" response, ignoring the fact that his audience largely made up of young girls didn't give a crap about any of that.
