And even as he was defending himself against an unexpected backlash, he didn't get why a lot of fans were upset - because they had identified with Marissa. A lot of high school girls are depressed, a lot of them have substance abuse issues. No one wants to think that means those girls are doomed to die.

I legit wish if anything, he would never mention that again. Say he killed her off because he didn't like the character, that's fine. Just stop acting like she was basically asking to die.
