I like that idea Jackie on having a resource guide.

Mimica I think it would work providing the art forms weren't put against each other. If we allowed an area where things like icons could also be submitted but they went in a poll together not against the wallpapers.

Is changing the competition from wallpapers to icons something that people would be interested in?

Tina maybe on to something there I think a lot more people would join if it was icons since that would be much quicker/easier too. or leave it to the artist to decide which to make.

Personally I don't think it is fair to ask people to compare an icon vs a wallpaper in voting. I respect that wallpapers are harder/larger/scarier/ect. so icons would be more appealing but I also think they come with challenges too. Like how do you keep track of who's icon is who's? Some of the other managers & I were discussing that & we thought to change it to icons it would be fair to say you can submit 3-5 icons per board but you must supply all submitted icons on another image which also shows your username & the board name. Like this:



I'm not sure how practical that would be for everyone, however we could support anyone who can't do it too. Then I started this thread today where we can share different art making programs & websites which may also help people as they may find a program which suits their individual needs that they weren't already aware of



An alternative idea that the management team have been discussing is introducing a different element to the competition. So while you can continue to make wallpapers for each of the boards as it is now, on the Fan Art (or Info Center) board we have a thread where you can submit other art forms (E.G. icons, fan fics). Then those could be judged separately with the work being judged based on what sort of art it is. There's also nothing to say we couldn't do that on each individual board too.

I'm not an artists at all, but I'm loving the discussion on this thread.

I do think newbies or less talented artists may be shy to submit or enter, but the thread with resources and with suggestions/support is a great way to help that.

Personally, I like the idea of icons as well as wallpaper, though they would have to be separate contests, I think.

We could but I don't know that it is the most practical at least for my end. Every time something wins something the competition organizers have to remember which board the icon comes from to go in & check who made it to record it down. Its an extra step which also may result in human error. At least with the wallpapers they provide us with the information we need (board name, username of creator) so there isn't that risk of human error. There is also the risk of mixing up the icons or missing one. So mostly I'm concerned over human error, & it is selfish on my part, but I'd rather not risk losing an icon or mixing them up.

True. The moderators would be in charge of keeping the names to the icons correctly in the op, and then all you would have to do is copy and paste when the new polls open.

Maybe we can forgo making awards banners and just do a general banner (thanking all who won)? Might make it easier and less stress on the gt to create, that way, there's less human error? Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestions . I'm not sure how adding the username into the polls with the icons would look, appearance wise, without it being confusing. But that is another option. I didn't think of that. I'll have a play on how that'd look/practical it would be

Personally I like the personal awards over generic ones . Don't think that really solves any issue on human error either, just saves time

Tina - I tested it out & I don't think either idea works in the poll so I think you're right in keeping them separate & usernames in the OP. Then for the polls we'll have to post the options in the thread OP with just text in the polls to save confusion. Thanks for your help

The options:

Two parts of the competition: Icons & Wallpapers
The wallpaper part of the competition will remain the same. We will also have a part on the Fan Art board where icons can be submitted. Both art types will be voted separately as we don't believe you can compare an icon to a wallpaper. You would be able to submit a holiday-inspired set of 3-5 icons into the following categories (one icon set per category):

General
DC & Marvel
Female Celebrities
Male Celebrities
Music Artists
TV Shows - Present
TV Shows - Past
Sci-Fi/Fantasy

Although these categories are the same as our categories on you will not be restricted to only submitting topics which has a board on .

The first round of voting for the icons would be icons in each category against each other (similar to how round 2 currently works). We may then do a second round where the winners of each category are then put into one poll to determine an ultimate winner. With another round of special awards awarded according to various categories (similar to how round 3 currently works). These details are yet to be discussed fully/decided upon. Please feel free to share your own thoughts on this to help our decision making



Icons Only
The competition will be run in a similar manner to how it is run now, however instead of submitting wallpapers (or art from the following sizes: 400x300px, 800x600px, or 1024x768px) as you do now, it would be 3-5 icons (100x100px). Every board will have the opportunity to sign up, as they do now. You will be able to submit a set of 3-5 holiday-inspired icons per board. Round 1 voting will be the same as now, on each individual board (any board with only one submission will automatically go into round 2). Round 2 will be held on the Info Center board with each category having individual polls (same as now). Round 3 will be the same as now, with all icons submitted eligible for the various special categories.

In both suggestions usernames will not have to be added to the icons since they are smaller works of art. They will be included in the OPs with the art.

That hasn't been discussed however personally I don't think it is fair to include animated since not everyone can do that & I don't think you can judge animated & still icons in the same competition.
