I believe she was the only one at that point who could get to him. Not only because of the "no-nonsense attitude" you mention but also because she was the only one who can truly feel his pain, since Marissa was close to her too.

Later of course he had Taylor (who as a character I think is very similar to Summer) but at that time he and Taylor were not close friends and she was not as close to Marissa as Summer was.

I also liked the fact that later in the show Ryan and Summer's friendship grow, and she give him relationship advises, and of course the finale RS scene when she give him that bunny was adorable

Summer and Ryan just got each other in a lot of ways. They could relate to what the other was going through and were able to communicate well. Like they spoke the same language.

Yeah, on first glance Summer and Taylor aren't all that similar, but they really did have a lot of basic traits in common. I really enjoyed the friendship that grew between the two of them. And I love that neither of them were afraid to confront Ryan bluntly and directly (well, Summer was a bit more direct than Taylor, but Taylor did manage to get her point across, just sometimes in a complicated Taylor-way ).

Yeah, they both had a mother who left them and divorced parents. Also Summer had the step monster and Ryan had his mother's boyfriends to deal with growing up.


I saw Summer and Taylor as almost the same character. Really, I don’t see a lot of difference between them . I guess this is way I loved RT, because its like getting Ryan and Summer only without the guilt of how this kind of relationship will hurt Seth and the Cohens

Yeah, I love the bunny title.

I don't know - superficially, Taylor comes off differently than Summer to me. And I don't mean that in a bad way - I like 'em both. But (rage blackouts to the contrary) Summer seemed to handle things a bit more rationally than Taylor. At least by that point in time. So I guess maybe they're both very similar, but Taylor is just more extreme in her actions? But I agree that they do have a great deal in common.

I get what you're saying Anla, and I agree that they are not exactly the same. but I still think that even with the slight difference in their personality, when you look at the big picture, they are still very similar characters. They are both cute and talkative and both very passionate in love, both of the characters started off as characters we were suppose to hate but ended up loving, both suddenly were in love with their man (S1 Summer, ignored Seth for years but than realize she had feelings for him after he started dating Anna. Taylor – pretty much ignored Ryan in S4, and than full in love with him after he fakes kisses her).It's Nothing against Summer or Taylor, just how I see things

"The Debut" was the most recent episode that I rewatched. Summer's interest in Ryan is back in full-force in this ep.
